Sort of inspired by the other thread, I want to know what your favourite guilty pleasure songs are.

Songs that you know are cheesy or awful, but you love them anyway for whatever reason.

Mine is "In the Mood for Dancing" by The Nolans. I BEGGED my mum to let me have a pair of tight pink lycra leggings but she said no probably because I was 10 I've never got over it!

Dock of the Bay - Otis Redding
Lola - The Kinks
Brown Sugar - Rolling Stone
Bat out of Hell - Meatloaf

They all show my age 😀

TSSDNCOP · 06/01/2017 20:42

I forgot Copa Cabana

YokoUhOh · 06/01/2017 20:42

borders I love love love the Glitter Band - 'Makes You Blind' is a disco classic.

caz323

Yesssssssssss! I want to say his name was Ryan Paris, but I can't remember it. I had it on 45 as well!

I've always had a knack for picking out hits when we're on holiday. We heard Livin' La Vida Loca on holiday in Mexico and as soon as I heard it I knew it'd be huge.

MrsJude 2 Can Play At That Game is my favourite, but only the K-Klass remix!

CombineBananaFister · 06/01/2017 20:45

Hahaha, my goodness, loads of these are great and would have me secretly dancing around the living room. Anything soft rock here, reminds me of happy days of tied white shirts, hair bandanas and ripped jeans and massive hairsprayed fringes Grin

Cruel Summer - bananarama
Roxette - must have been love
Frankie - sister sledge
aaaaaaand inexplicably..........
Dmx - x gona give it to ya Blush

Thegiantofillinois · 06/01/2017 21:35

Watching Vintage the other day. Maria McKee, show me heaven. I sneered along with G, but secretly I was thinking:"i used to belt this out ended when I was a pre teen....I could sing this in the car!"

Mrsjudelaw66 · 06/01/2017 22:17

I don't have guilty pleasure songs. I like what I like.

Whilst that may be true, some songs/bands are considered a bit uncool.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/01/2017 22:28

Ah, no-one else admits it but "Blurred Lines" in the car, good and loud.
Shoot me Hmm

PrimalLass · 06/01/2017 22:30

50% of the One Direction back catalogue. I don't even feel guilty.

GrouchyKiwi · 06/01/2017 22:40

Whilst that may be true, some songs/bands are considered a bit uncool.

But what's uncool this year might be cool next so who really cares what's cool and what's not? Why not just enjoy things for what they are?

BenLinusatemyhomework · 06/01/2017 22:40

Wilson Phillips - Croons... "Don'tcha know, don'tcha know, it could change, things can go your way, if ya hoooooold for one more day...things can go your way (hold on for one more day)".

Rainbunny · 06/01/2017 22:42

Ooh, I randomly heard "You're the Voice" by Richard Farnham the other day and loved it! I had to rush home trying to remember the lyrics and google it, I remember it as a kid. Music in the 80's really was better I realised recently!

DanyellasDonkey · 06/01/2017 22:46

Mmmbop by Hanson. Can't understand a word of what they're singing which is usually a pet hate of mine, but it's such a good, happy song

Mrsjudelaw66 · 06/01/2017 22:50

I agree but the whole point is that many of us feel some songs are so cheesy that no one else will appreciate them.

I am happy to remain a furtive fan of Barry Manilow. Grin

Hassled · 06/01/2017 22:51

Yes Sir, I Can Boogie by Baccarat. Love that song.

Bluesrunthegame · 06/01/2017 22:57

Wichita Lineman, by Glenn Miller; Sugar Sugar, by the Archies. I'm a big Tom Waits fan so these are outside my usual listening and I love them!

Pettywoman · 06/01/2017 23:00

I love Wichita Lineman too and any Status Quo.

The80sweregreat · 06/01/2017 23:00

East, i adore that song!
It is the 80 s for me..
Like a prayer, Vogue and holiday by Madge.
She is the queen of pop.

AGnu · 06/01/2017 23:07

I enjoy any cheesy country music, can't help dancing to 9 to 5! Also Taylor Swift's "Shake it off". I'll freely admit to the country obsession but would cut out my own tongue before admitting to liking any of this new-fangled modern pop nonsense. I'm 30.

kimann · 06/01/2017 23:53

Simply red - for your babies Grin

Wishforsnow · 06/01/2017 23:58

Cuddly Toy by Roachford. I could listen to this song on repeat!

kitnkaboodle · 07/01/2017 00:03

War of the Worlds - the whole double LP Blush

BreconBeBuggered · 07/01/2017 00:13

Could It Be Magic by Barry Manilow. I cringe at any covers. Nobody does that one like Barry.

Blush Blush Blush

MrsMattBomer · 07/01/2017 12:28

I love War of the Worlds as well. I quite often play "The Eve of the War" if I want to get DS1 and DS2 out of the room Grin

I'm adding Xanadu by Olivia Neutron Bomb, or whatever she's calling herself these days!
