Sort of inspired by the other thread, I want to know what your favourite guilty pleasure songs are.

Songs that you know are cheesy or awful, but you love them anyway for whatever reason.

Mine is "In the Mood for Dancing" by The Nolans. I BEGGED my mum to let me have a pair of tight pink lycra leggings but she said no probably because I was 10 I've never got over it!

Oops said the wrong Communards song, the one with Richard Coles dad dancing and that is my guilty pleasure is Never can say goodbye.

MrsMattBomer · 06/01/2017 19:04

Ah yes, The Communards. I vaguely recall seeing them live although it might have been the Pet Shop Boys, my memory is shocking and I was pissed at the time.

Gary Glitter songs Sad. He was a great showman, but unfortunately had a very dark side.

caz323 · 06/01/2017 19:10

Chesney Hawkes. The One and Only

Mrsjudelaw66 · 06/01/2017 19:15

Bobby Brown "Two can play that game". Reminds me of sweaty 90's nightclubs and getting smashed.

Ladymoods · 06/01/2017 19:17

Not sure why these are "guilty pleasures". If you like a song, you like it. Who puts them in the category of not being acceptable to like without feeling like you shouldn't?

caz323 · 06/01/2017 19:18

......and Lady in Red, C de Burgh! He was fantastic in concert aswell. Credit where credit is due.

Fortybingowings · 06/01/2017 19:18

MrsJudelaw -yes yes! Also Jump Around by house of pain. Reminds me of the sweaty night clubs and spilling beer on the way back from the bar because I kept bumping into people who were 'jumping around' to the song!

LunaMay · 06/01/2017 19:19

Use it up and wear it out - Odyssey (or Pat & Mick)
Boys - Sabrina reminds me of Greek disco c.1988

OneOfTheGrundys · 06/01/2017 20:04

This Is How We Do It!

OneOfTheGrundys · 06/01/2017 20:06

Ooh also One For The Money by Horace Brown.

caz323 · 06/01/2017 20:15

Anyone remember Dolce Vita by Ryan Paris?? I heard that belting out everywhere & every day on hol in Spain 1983!! Brought home my own vinyl copy (youngsters - go google vinyl)! Also the disco fave at the time. I know, disco gives my age away. But they weren't called nightclubs then!

Turquoisetamborine · 06/01/2017 20:19

The Lambada!! I was in the most amazing bar in York in the summer which is like a cocktail bar you would get in Benidorm and they played it for me!!! It wouldn't suit any other setting but I spun around with a German exchange student to it having the time of my life!!

trinity0097 · 06/01/2017 20:25

Not a song per se, but I like listening to Bollywood music on the quiet!

LoupGarou · 06/01/2017 20:29

Anything by country singer Dean Brody, especially Bring down the house, Bush party and Mountain Man because I fancy the pants off him and am ashamed to admit it Blush

luckylavender · 06/01/2017 20:31

Lionel Ritchie- Dancing on the Ceiling

JenniferYellowHat1980 · 06/01/2017 20:31

Starship - Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now. Reminds me of a major crush I had on a boy from Hull when I was a kid.

GrouchyKiwi · 06/01/2017 20:32

I don't have guilty pleasure songs. I like what I like.

Songs I like by people I usually loathe would come closest, so I give you:

  • Toxic ~ Britney
  • Objection (Tango) ~ Shakira
slippermum · 06/01/2017 20:35

Oh Ma Fave Kind o Thread

lol, am stuck in the 70,s! All remind me of when I was wee (smile)
caitlinohara · 06/01/2017 20:38

I have a theory that every man's guilty pleasure song is Living On a Prayer. All men will admit to liking it if you really push them.

I have yet to find the female equivalent, I thought it might be Shania Twain's Man I Feel Like a Woman but no one has even mentioned that yet. You're all too cool Grin
