To ask which vacuum you would recommend?

Vacuum gave up over Christmas so need to replace it ASAP.

We've got a Henry and rate it.

Bought one last year online after reading some brilliant reviews and it hasn't disappointed at all.

I have spent too many hours recently looking into a new vacuum! I want bagless and am thinking Dyson.

Vax Reach. On sale at the moment around £85 I think. Best one I've ever had.

I posted similarly a couple of years ago and got the message that Henry was great. We hate him. With avengeance. He has some good features, like the long lead, so you can plug him in and do the living room through to the top of the stairs (bog standard 3 bed semi). He's thorough enough on the extra setting. BUT when you have to lug him about, like upstairs and such, he's not light and he's quite large for balancing on your stairs. He falls over like a drunken sailor and he has that smug face that makes me want to smack him and I am generally anti-smacking even with smug-faced, bottom-heavy vacs.

I have been saving up for a Dyson cordless and am currently waiting for a day of with DH to go buy new carpets and said vac to clean them with.

I looked at the Miele and that looked impressive.

My advice would be, before you commit to a Henry, go pick it up in the store and check it's weight and such. Compare it to uprights and see what suits you best. Don't do what I did...listen to reviews and order online because you don't really know what you've got til you've handled it.

I've got a really nice Samsung one which was Which recommended a couple of years ago I think.

I will never buy a Vax again. It just used to blow the dirt around. Even though it was a pet one so should have been powerful.

I have a Karcher. It's meant to be for workshops but really powerful on cat hair and works a treat on carpets and hard floors plus loads cheaper than a Dyson or Henry.

Sebo. Our dyson is utter shite in comparison.

I've had Henry recommendations and had a good look in the shop the other week. I found him heavy and the stats not that great, plus I cba with the faff of bags. I looked at the Miele's as I know they come highly recommended but I didn't want a cylinder as it hurts my back so didn't get it.

I've had 2 Vax's, one of which is still working but it gets on my nerves that much I just bought a new vacuum. Previous Vax kicked out loads of dust, constantly clogged and when using it on carpet the head just snapped off the hose. We went for a Dyson DC40. It is heavy but I don't mind that. So far I really like it.

Definitely get a Henry - we've had a Dyson, it was unwieldy and annoying. Our Henry is brill.

TSSCleaner highly rates Miele. She breaks non-Miele I think on purpose because they aren't hardcore enough for her totally batshit style of cleaning.

I have a Henry because I noticed cleaners always use it. Didn't die after all the christmas pine needles so it's a winner in my book.

Had two Dysons. Both died within 5 years. Had a Henry for nearly 10 years now. Had to replace the hose once in this time (less than £15 IIRC).

Powerful suction, long lead, large bag. Rate it highly.

Another one here for Miele Cat & Dog. It is brilliant.

I had one when I was renting in Germany and got one the day I moved back to the uk. It's amazing.

Henry. You can't beat them for longevity. Ours is still going strong. I got some washable reusable bags for it, which are really good
