to be furious at this school run parking nightmare woman?

So, excuse me while I try to calm down..... it has only just happened you see! Angry. Usual scenario,, busy residential street, school run parking at a premium. I always scrupulously avoid parking over residents driveway exits where there is a single dropped kerb. I have just been told off by some van driver's wife (house has four cars parked out front) for parking over part of their double dropped kerb. Their kerb is twice the size of everyone else's, no doubt to feed their car collecting fetish, but my point is, as I made politely to her, that I had left an exit for her. It just wasn't the one she wanted to use. I know tempers get inflamed at these times, but our local situation is terrible, and I try my best not to upset anyone. I used to live on the same road, it's a small community, and I don't want to be unreasonable but this woman was so condescending and entitled and told me off like a six year old with a toileting problem. If it was a question of access for pushchairs, wheelchairs or the blind it would be different. Why should she assume she can have two free spaces on the street outside her house when everyone else gets one? I am looking forward to tomorrow's parking battle Shock.

You are the unreasonable one. Goodbye.

SlatternIsTrying · 05/01/2017 19:59

Well done OP, good for you to admit you were wrong.

FaFoutis · 05/01/2017 19:59

A brave move OP.
Does this mean you will never do it again?

Soubriquet · 05/01/2017 19:59

Well done for admitting fault and not just name changing and hiding

KissingAFool · 05/01/2017 20:00

Fair play to you OP for not legging it as I would have done

FrayedHem · 05/01/2017 20:01

As a van driver's wife (though not THE van driver's wife as we only have 2 vehicles and no fetishes), I commend your gracious return.

fruitbats · 05/01/2017 20:02

Nice one OP.

AddictedtoLovely · 05/01/2017 20:04

Yabu of course

purplefizz26 · 05/01/2017 20:06

YABU

You blocked her drive, no matter how big it is, you blocked it.

Most school run parents in cars are fucking nightmares.

I live on a road that has a primary school and a high school. For about half an hour either side of 8:30am and 3:00pm is hellish because of people like you.

Park further away and walk, or just walk, or just park considerately.

Kids won't keep over having to walk further to the car or home.

chipmonkey · 05/01/2017 20:06

Well done for admitting YABU, OP.

Does anyone else think "The Van Driver's Wife" sounds like a novel?

Keremy · 05/01/2017 20:07

The problem is you might only have parked there for five minutes but so do a billion other people. From experience talking here. We have a private numbered car park here. People just park for 'five minutes' and get annoyed if we moan. This means with two primaries and a secondary and before and after school club we cannot park between 7am to 9.30am then 2pm to 5pm and then Saturday morning the school is used for clubs. It is horrendous.

Lweji · 05/01/2017 20:07

See, I got the second prediction right. Grin

Until the OP comes back and recognises that she was wrong, it won't go away.

Even so, some people won't have RTFT and keep posting.

FaFoutis · 05/01/2017 20:07

Yes, a murder mystery. Van driver with a rolled up carpet in the back.

MiscellaneousAssortment · 05/01/2017 20:25

Yes yes Janey, I have been dissolved to tears as a ignorant driver has decided their 'need' to park in front of a dropped kerb from busy London street pavement to road (to avoid paying for parking) is greater than any stupid disabled person who can't get by any other way. There is one particular side road where the lack of any other dropped kerb means my way is completely barred by the selfish wankers who persistently park over the dropped kerb.

Those selfish bastards actions have resulted in me gaving to turn back and go home, stripped of my basic independence, & unable to get to a place that everyone else can easily just drive or walk to.

I hate stupid selfish bastards who park over dropped kerbs and wish there was a penalty that matched the punishment I pay for their actions. Fuckers.

(Zero tolerance for their 'oh I didn't know' and atb est, pretend 'oh soorrreee's'. Just as likely to be laughter though. Fuckers.)

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 05/01/2017 20:41

Well done for coming back miss

EthelEgbert · 05/01/2017 20:44
Angry That's really awful MiscellaneousAssortment

Wish you could issue tickets as a matter of course!

Celaena · 05/01/2017 20:59

I read the whole thread and didn't expect the OP to come back, well done

ForalltheSaints · 05/01/2017 20:59

If all those who travel less than a mile to school and then go back home walked then this would not be an issue.

Dominithecat · 05/01/2017 21:02

Oh dear, my house has a double dropped kerb, and I am a van drivers wife. I swear it wasn't me Smile
But the double drop is cos it's a shared drive with the house the other side and the van driver is an on call engineer. So if the wrong side was blocked then the van driver could not get out, and the van driver fixes shit like gas leaks and other urgenty type stuff like that. So blocking any part of the drive could have major implications, not to mention getting the blocking car towed away fairly quickly.
Silly thing to do, think about things other than yourself next time eh

FourKidsNotCrazyYet · 05/01/2017 21:05

You blocked her drive and are angry with her for being pissed at you. I'd be pissed at you too. You can't park there wether or not you think her drive is too wide or not. It's her drive! YABVU!!!

You're not meant to admit YABU after being unanimously told. Where is your dramatic flounce? You didn't call us vile bullies! Shock Grin

FourKidsNotCrazyYet · 05/01/2017 21:33

Sorry. Didn't read full thread Blush. Well done OP
