So, excuse me while I try to calm down..... it has only just happened you see! Angry. Usual scenario,, busy residential street, school run parking at a premium. I always scrupulously avoid parking over residents driveway exits where there is a single dropped kerb. I have just been told off by some van driver's wife (house has four cars parked out front) for parking over part of their double dropped kerb. Their kerb is twice the size of everyone else's, no doubt to feed their car collecting fetish, but my point is, as I made politely to her, that I had left an exit for her. It just wasn't the one she wanted to use. I know tempers get inflamed at these times, but our local situation is terrible, and I try my best not to upset anyone. I used to live on the same road, it's a small community, and I don't want to be unreasonable but this woman was so condescending and entitled and told me off like a six year old with a toileting problem. If it was a question of access for pushchairs, wheelchairs or the blind it would be different. Why should she assume she can have two free spaces on the street outside her house when everyone else gets one? I am looking forward to tomorrow's parking battle Shock.

YANBU, legally, if there was access (for all of the vehicles - i.e. They could all get in to the road if required) to the highway. Dropped kerbs and 'H' lines are not legally 'no parking' - they are covered only by generic obstruction/highway access guidelines. So if a police officer were to deem, in their judgement, that it was causing obstruction, they could issue a penalty.

However, YABVU in the tone of the question, though you did warn that you needed to calm down. Also, you make assumptions and comments based on zero facts - you have no idea why they have double width line and multiple cars and, more importantly, it's none of your business, frankly.

And my final but, for me, most important point, I would probably have been pissed off too if it was my drive. Especially if you spoke to me in the tone of your OP. Maybe if you'd calmly and in a friendly way, asked which side they ne see access from fir the next 'x' mins whilst you drop off, it
May have been a very different result. If the occupant had then been unreasonable, at least you'd know you did your best to reach a compromise.

Dropped kerbs and white lines are , IMHO, a waste of money. My understanding is that they have no 'legal' weight and rely on people's good manners.

How do you know she had keys for the other vehicles? Or that shes insured to drive all of them? They could belong to other family members who were out & had the keys with them. They could have been low on petrol. Maybe she can only drive automatic & the others were Manuel? YABU to dictate to this woman which car she must drive.
