I mean come on.

Even me, the queen of slack and low standards thinks that's just too gross.

Her argument is that she cleans the bin lid everyday. (She doesn't)

AIBU to want buy her colour coordinated cloths for the kitchen 😂

what else are you supposed to do with it?

Put it in the wheelie bin. I don't know why you'd empty one bin into another in another roomConfused

We don't have kitchen or bathroom bins, everything goes straight into the wheelie bin

We don't have wheelie bins here. Everything needs to be in a black bag to be collected, so you have to empty smaller bins into a larger bin so that all the rubbish is in a bag. I suppose you could go round with a new black bag on bin day emptying all the bins straight into that but since we have a big bag in our kitchen bin, we empty other bins into that as and when they get full.

But if you don't have kitchen or bathroom bins, every night after flossing your teeth or using cotton wool or whatever, you must have to go outside. Isn't that really inefficient? So when you're cooking you have to keep going outside to scrape off your veg peelings or your chicken bones? For me that would mean walking the length of my house, opening the front door and walking the width of the house to reach my bin (not a wheely bin as we don't have them).

I dont really see the problem, presumably she's spraying Flash or something all over the place too.

I've caught DP wiping the sweat off his face with the tea towel then hanging it up again! Now THAT is gross!

I use either Dettol spray with kitchen roll or cleaning wipes.

I wouldn't use cloths or if I did would use them once on a surface then boil wash.

I clean my kitchen bin lid regularly!

My mum has the lowest of the low hygiene standards. I've watched her slice raw bacon and chicken then salad using the same knife and chopping board. I've never eaten a meal there that didn't have pet hair in.
I think it's why I'm never ill.

Yuck yuck - the bin ought to be the last thing to be wiped, after that the cloth is to be chucked (out or in the wash, depending upon the type of cloth).

Yuck.

Mils dishcloth is vile. She once used it to wipe a spill off the floor, put it back near the sink, thin sil used it to scoop up a massive sugar pot spill. She scooped the sugar up and tipped it back into the pot with the dirty wet cloth.Envy

love how in the fucking fuck does a chopping board have 200% more fecal matter on it then a toilet! That has to be bullshit.

I'd be surprised if it's bullshit, unless you're a farmer.

O wow I am minging... Grin I thought I was quite clean and tidy until I read this thread (and wish I knew you all irl as the lower cleanliness standards of people I know annoys me!)
I use the same cloth on loo and sink. (I also own a toilet brush!)
I wash my bin lid with the dishcloth, in the washing up water.
I wash my pets' towel in with the tea-towels... makes sense, they're the only things that go in a 95 degree wash... more cleanliness points deducted for that too I guess.

Amazing I'm still here really

Green Our council charges for compost collection! Although to be fair they do seprate out the food waste and make compost with it the the rubbish sorting plant. You also have to drive/have access to car if you want to recycle certain things.

Kitchen roll

No, because then you're simply wiping OFF the anti-bac - it soaks into the kitchen roll. Using a dampened sponge is much better.

I saw mil doing the kitchen roll with dettol spray - I know from last time I cleaned that table that no dirt had actually been removed for at least a decade.

Single storey house, wheelie bin is near the back door, which is in the kitchen, bathrooms are down a short corridor so it's all pretty close. I have a smallish plastic box by the sink for vegetable peelings and general kitchen waste, which gets emptied several times a day, and the box itself goes in the dishwasher

I'm not in the uk and we don't have house to house bin collections, we take our rubbish to the communal bins round the corner

I couldn't get worked up about it if I'm honest. How do you think we managed 40 years ago when we didn't have several different cloths, different types of bin, hand sanitiser, food safety and all that nonsense? None of us died because of it!

Next time I make her sandwIch I might rub it on the bin lid first and see if she'll still eat it.

OP she presumably did the same when you were growing up. Did you have lots of tummy bugs as a child?

If not then YABU.

Sorry but that is grim.

People on here are pretty slack. Today i have read that people would take a turkey out the bin that the cat has been at and cook and eat it and now this. Puts me off eating at other peoples houses, who knows what else goes on?! Confused

My mum had always been a crazy clean freak that's what makes me so Hmm about it.
I am the total opposite but feel the bin lid is just too far. Just wipe it last it's got all sorts of shit on it! Including raw meat juice
