Can my glasses be saved? I was getting ready and he was playing quietly at my feet, i know i should of moved them out his reach but i was just about to put them on after i got dressed. He has snapped the leg clean off the frame. The small screw is still attatched to the leg

Classic dan....

stubbornstains · 01/01/2017 13:52

No advice really, but my own Dan (who is 18m old, and called something else really) did just this a month or so back. Luckily the glasses were over 2 years old, so I was due a voucher.

DanFmDorking · 01/01/2017 13:55

WHAT !!!!
I didn't mean to.
Actually, I can't remember anything.

Flumpsnlumpsnstuff · 01/01/2017 13:57

Umm am I your optician ?Blush
''Twas a joke of course dc and glasses never mix or ddogs and apex for that matter. But should be able to replace the front of the frame ( sides are fine) for a very small charge. Meanwhile don't try to glue as it won't work on this particular break.
To the poster who's bridge keeps snapping, buy fine magnets and glue to either side of the bridge and voila no more breaks and a super cool pair you can hang round your neck too Grin

BertieBotts · 01/01/2017 13:58

You can go to any opticians.

Love the typo related banter Grin

Fucking Dan.

Your dog is called Nacho? Wish it had been him. "Nacho glasses. Bad dog".

StarsandSparkles · 01/01/2017 14:01

flumps forgive me for being really thick here but see when you say the front of the frame is that the bit that the lenses are in?

OP posts:
StarsandSparkles · 01/01/2017 14:03

Looks like an Elastoplast jobHalo

FeelingSmurfy · 01/01/2017 14:15

You could get a pair cheap online to use as spares and use your others full time (if I read it right and you do have a second pair...Dan distracted me!) I have a pair that cost me under £20, they were to keep me going for a few weeks but they were great and suited me so I ended up just keeping those and nobody would guess they were cheap if I didn't keep telling everyone! yet my sister paid around £200 and was told they looked cheap Confused I have had these about 18months now and no problem

StarsandSparkles · 01/01/2017 14:21

smurfy yes i have another pair i have them on just now. My lenses are for distance mostly

OP posts:
tinyterrors · 01/01/2017 14:32

If you've got a recent prescription and need simple lenses then have a look at glassesdirect. They do pairs starting at £20 for two pairs. I need mine for distance and got some from there and they're good quality and nice designs. They're also quick, it took less than two weeks to get my glasses and that included some frames being sent out to try before ordering my glasses.

StarsandSparkles · 01/01/2017 14:42

I have a feeling i threw the copy of my prescription away :( i got the glasses in november

OP posts:
Flumpsnlumpsnstuff · 01/01/2017 15:04

Yes the front is where the lenses are, it looks like the hinge at the front has snapped.
Please do not buy online Dispensing opticians have 3-4years training to a level 6 nvq or higher and are a protected title for a reason. When people say I buy online and it's fine I cringe as your eyes will adjust to most things eventually that doesn't mean they work. I wouldn't buy my medicine online or google dr for my diagnosis.

StarsandSparkles · 01/01/2017 15:09

If it comes to it im more than happy to buy new frames as i really like these glasses

OP posts:
tinyterrors · 01/01/2017 15:26

Your optician should have a record of your prescription and should give you a copy if you ask.

If you like the frames I'd see if they can either fix them or get a new frame and put your lenses in.

I buy mine online because I can't afford opticians prices and need glasses. I've had mine checked by an optician and they're fine. I also did a lot of research before buying online.

StarsandSparkles · 01/01/2017 15:29

If memory serves me right the frames were around the £30 mark. My auntie says ive to tell her something other than ds broke them to save face but id not have a clue what to say instead

londonrach · 01/01/2017 15:59

Lol...thank op for this. Bad dan.. try asda their frames etc are very reasonably priced. I even get thin lenses within the price.

StarsandSparkles · 01/01/2017 16:07

Nearest asda with an opticians is 22 miles away and a pita to get to when you cant drive

insancerre · 01/01/2017 16:15

If you decid to use superglue to fix your glasses, do not hold them with your fingers while you wait for the glue to dry
Unless you want to glue your specs to your fingers, eh MIL?

ShowMePotatoSalad · 01/01/2017 16:18

Fucking Dan.

You can't fix those glasses. Can you go and get new ones tomorrow? I sat on my glasses and they were all messed up. I tried to fix them and then wore wonky glasses for about 2 months. I wish I'd got new ones quicker but I was a silly thing.

StarsandSparkles · 01/01/2017 17:13

When i got my glasses in november i got 2 pairs so im using the other pair just now
