Can my glasses be saved? I was getting ready and he was playing quietly at my feet, i know i should of moved them out his reach but i was just about to put them on after i got dressed. He has snapped the leg clean off the frame. The small screw is still attatched to the leg

The ones that have snapped were my original spare pair. Thankfully ive got my other pair still. The optician i got them from told me she would batter me if i went back and told her ds had got a hold of my glasses. Im loathe to go back to her...

Maybe Dan was trying to comb his hair with the leg of the glasses?

SEE WHAT I DIDN'T DO THERE

dowhatnow · 01/01/2017 13:18

Personally I'd bill Dan for the cost of the repair.

Olympiathequeen · 01/01/2017 13:19

If the plastic has snapped they're dead. Dan needs to sit on the naughty step.

TheThingsWeAdmitOnMN · 01/01/2017 13:19

Bewty. It's ok. This once. You've realise the error of your ways. Fortunately.

Honeydragon · 01/01/2017 13:20

Tell the optician that Dan did not ds. Dan's an arse.

TheThingsWeAdmitOnMN · 01/01/2017 13:20

LOL at your optician. What prompted her to say that? Is Dan a glasses thug?

Bewty

It's News Years syndrome ....it happens to best of us after prolonged Facebook / snapchat exposure. Today it's forgivable.

StarsandSparkles · 01/01/2017 13:21

Ahh fuck i liked this pair of glasses as well :( if they cant be saved is it possible to get a frame the same shape and put the lenses from the snapped pair into a new frame? And will it cost a lot?

Now come on, Dan.

The OP can't see the joke...

Beeziekn33ze · 01/01/2017 13:23

Sure the optician will sort this for you!

StarsandSparkles · 01/01/2017 13:23

She said it because ds is prone to trying to play with glasses. Could it work dan being a fictious partner? 😂😂

Beeziekn33ze · 01/01/2017 13:24

Traditional quick repair is sticking plaster!

StarsandSparkles · 01/01/2017 13:24

Thank you MN you really have made me laugh despite the sad passing of my spectacles lol

I did it to mine yesterday. Himself has superglued them. So far they are holding up.

Jux · 01/01/2017 13:30

Mine broke at the bridge about a year ago. DH dutifully superglues them for me every time they fall off my face and snap again. We are both waiting on tenterhooks for the next voucher to arrive! Not long now. Grin

I'll see if I can get a pic of the join for you. Well, they fell off my face as I looked down, and the join is very weak now from being glued so many times, and of course the inevitable happened.

Luckily, after about the 6th time that happened, I got myself some cheap magnifiers which I shall only have to use for another month.....

StarsandSparkles · 01/01/2017 13:30

I wouldnt trust a diy repair job id rather it was done by somone that knows what they are doing. Do i have to take them back to the original place of purchase or can i take them to any opticians to be fixed?

OP posts:
StarsandSparkles · 01/01/2017 13:31

jux now that is an impressive break and definetely puts mine in the shade haha

OP posts:
GoodyGoodyGumdrops · 01/01/2017 13:39

Something like that has happened to me. But I did not blame Dan. Oh no, I took responsibility for my own vandalising ---- A sympathetic optician might be able to replace the arms completely, if they have ones with compatible hinges.

Mine have a box of unusable frames that they can cannibalise.

But if your optician is unsympathetic (to Dan) you'll have to claim that you were...oh, dunno...swinging them around by the arm while carried away (by Dan?) in an excess of NYE dancing.

PenguinsandPebbles · 01/01/2017 13:41

Really hope when OP takes the glasses to the opticians the friendly optician is called Dan...

2017watchoutherewecome · 01/01/2017 13:46

Tell Dan to stop making a spectacle of himself.

dowhatnow · 01/01/2017 13:50

Can't you get Dan to try super gluing them?

StarsandSparkles · 01/01/2017 13:51

Optician is a lady who isnt called dan 😂 she isnt sympathetic at all and will most likely give me a bollocking

OP posts:
Megatherium · 01/01/2017 13:51

I tried mending mine with glue when they broke in the middle like Jux's. They fell apart in the middle of the supermarket and I couldn't see to drive home. Not trying that again ...
