I am! I am a teacher so I am lucky to have two weeks off for Christmas.

I am very grateful to have had time with good family/friends and time with DS and DH.

However, I have to say that I am looking forward to returning to the normal routine on Tuesday! All the visiting and entertaining had been lovely but I do find it hard work - preparing then hosting then clearing up afterwards!

DH had taken DS out today and I'm set doing some school work in peace and I'm actually quite enjoying it!

Is anyone else looking forward to getting back to normal routine or am I weird ?

Ehh. Looking forward to normal food but I already went back into the office on Wednesday and yesterday and it was a bit shite so I'm not relishing Tuesday.

dingdongdigeridoo · 30/12/2016 16:15

Went back in on the 28th and 29th and it was bloody miserable! Everyone was in a shit mood or sick, I froze my arse off de-icing my car and had to drive to work in the dark, and I had dozens of emails waiting for me.

It's grim! I want afternoon naps and fancy cheeses all year round.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 30/12/2016 16:24

I am & I'm not. 2017 is set to get off to a pretty shit start for us & I'm worried about my own health. On the other hand it means we're getting closer to lighter nights & I can finally get to the cupboards to sort them out now the presents are out the way.

Arrowfanatic · 30/12/2016 17:45

I can't decide. On the one hand the routine of school and preschool for the kids helps them and they are happier in routine, but I do dread the school runs again and getting up so early! But I'm looking forward to the 3 days a week I get child free haha

scrabble1 · 30/12/2016 17:55

Ds, dh and myself have all been ill. Ds recovered first and has been very bored. Haven't been able to go anywhere as was stuck in bed with flu for 2 weeks. Literally been me and ds 24/7 as dh too ill and irritable! Ready for a little "holiday" when back to school. Looking forward to going to cinema alone and catching up with friends

TurquoiseDress · 30/12/2016 19:23

Not at all, I love having time off over the Christmas/new year holidays! 😁

Sallystyle · 30/12/2016 19:41

I really don't want to get back to normal. I don't want the kids to go back to school and I most certainly don't want to go back to work on Tuesday.

I had two weeks off, I wasn't planning on it but due to unforeseen 'caring duties' I had to take some time off.

I am dreading having to get up in the mornings early and having a boring routine. I never want these lovely lazy, relaxed days to end.

PlymouthMaid1 · 30/12/2016 20:46

Not at all. I would like another week off now to potter about, do some decorating, go for walks etc. In fact, I would love to never vgvgo back to work.

FantasticFestiveBeasts · 30/12/2016 20:51

I can't believe how quickly the school holidays have whizzed by. I am lucky enough to have had the entire hols off (not a teacher and we have all been a bit ill) but am really looking forward to going back to work/normality. I have got a couple of big things starting at work which will be really interesting.

deste · 30/12/2016 21:00

Our schools don't go back till the 9th so another week to go. We are just getting ready for round two actually. New year and another round of guests and invites to parties etc. We will be fed up by next weekend though.

WashBasketsAreUs · 30/12/2016 21:02

I'm looking forward to the news being on at the right time, Jeremy Vine on at the right time and being able to work out what day it is! X

LynetteScavo · 30/12/2016 22:04

I wish it could've Christmas everyday.

I love lounging around. I love that I don't have to get up early and the DC don't have to leave the house before it's light.

I love being able to do whatever I want all day long.

I only work term time, and yesterday someone said what a shame I don't work every week of the year and earn more. Actually no, I bloody love the long holidays.

spankhurst · 30/12/2016 22:06

Yes from me. I like Christmas, sort of, but it starts in bloody October nowadays.

Stripyhoglets · 30/12/2016 22:14

Not really wanting to go back to work on Tuesday at all. But I'll keep the Dec's up till 12th night then coming in from work next week will be OK as I'll still have twinkly lights at home. Still Christmas till then I'll be ready for it to be packed awa after that though.

BusyBeez99 · 30/12/2016 22:17

I've loved not making packed lunches and cajoling to do homework. Back to work for me on Wednesday after two weeks off. DS has another week after that off school still!

EnglishGirlApproximately · 30/12/2016 22:21

I work from home and as lovely as it's been spending time with 4yo ds, I have loads of work to do and I could really do with those school hours back! I'm working in the evening at the moment which means I'm barely acknowledging DP when he gets in.

Decorations are already down though, I'm always quick with that!

ShowMePotatoSalad · 30/12/2016 22:22

I much prefer normal routines and being on holiday doesn't always suit me. I don't think it's all that unusual. The week between Xmas and new year is a bit weird.

oldlaundbooth · 30/12/2016 22:26

Yes.

Tree needs to come down its driving me nuts. Want to get NYE over with as I hate it.

Ahmezia · 01/01/2017 16:19

I work in the emergency services so I'm too if all the usual Christmas obligations I have no time off (& workied nughts over Christms)and seemingly double the work!

Can't wait to go back to a normal routine with kids back at school!

littleshirleybeans · 01/01/2017 17:04

Another teacher here and not back till the 9th. I've been utterly exhausted with the last couple of weeks of term. Ended up ill and spent Christmas Day in bed.
Still not great. DC1 also has a bad cough and now I think dh isn't well.
No, I can't wait for another week of lounging around.

Cockadoodledooo · 01/01/2017 20:18

I've had 3 days off (24-26). Decidedly normal schedule for me.
Kids and dh have enjoyed their time though. Mind you we moved house the week before Christmas and dh has been doing the unpacking and diy while I've been working so he's looking forward to going back to work for a rest this week!

ScarletForYa · 01/01/2017 20:26

Can't wait. I hate Christmas. I have a lot going on and want to get back on with what I was doing before Christmas so rudely interrupted it.

I did all the work and planning of Christmas but literally collapsed on the couch with exhaustion after Christmas dinner. I have been sick ever since, heavy antibiotics and steroids so not even any decent sleep. Nightmare.

All the decorations came down today, house tidy and new calendars up. Bring it on.

TeamAlphaFemale · 01/01/2017 20:34

DH has been under my feet with his 9 days off work. Toddler groups only run in term time, soft play and the zoo have been packed with school kids and my ILs keep spontaneously dropping in on us.
DS and I can't wait until the schools go back and we can return to our regular routine!!

TeamAlphaFemale · 01/01/2017 20:37

ScarletForYa get some zopiclone, you will sleep wonderfully! Was the only way I got any rest when taking steroids and it made a huge difference to my recovery as sleep is so important.
