To say terrestrial tv has been rubbish this Xmas and new year

I've just looked at the terrestrial tv listings for New Year's Eve and day and they are pretty rubbish imo. Lots of old films and repeats. And although I haven't seen much tv over Xmas as visiting I haven't seen much in the tv magazine that I've missed. We have Netflix and stuff but I feel annoyed that BBC can't be bothered to make any decent programmes.

There's at least a petition a year to scrap the license.
The last one included the following statement
The Government currently has no plans to abolish television licences in the UK. However all aspects of the BBC, including its funding, are up for debate as part of the Charter Review. Funding is one of many issues we asked about in our consultation, which ran over the summer and received more than 190,000 responses from the public and industry. The Government's proposals for the future of the BBC will be published next year

So expect another petition next year.

Fuck them all then, have watched the fleetwood mac documentary and then put Vh1 back on as it's playing non stop George Michael.
Even Netflix hasn't had Elf Angry

CaraAspen Ha no she definitely wrote the one set in Paris Blush

bloodyteenagers · 29/12/2016 08:34

Bernardo Bertolucci And Franco Arcalli wrote Last tango in Paris.

If Sally Wainright wrote last Tango in Paris she would have been about 9 lol.

Really regret paying my TV licence as all the stuff has been on Netflix, amazon prime or now tv. Which are all cheaper than the tv licence!!!

This. How can it be worth £14 a month? Haven't paid for a couple of years now so don't know the current price. But Netflix and amazon prime has more than I ever want to watch. And how can the BBC cost more then sky?!! (Now tv is sky on the internet in case you don't know).

HeadDreamer · 29/12/2016 09:38

To those saying you need to pay to own a tv. That has changed for a few years now to actually watching live tv and also BBC iPlayer on catch up. If you don't watch live and only watch all4, itv online, channel 5 online, Netflix, amazon prime and now to, you don't have to pay the license.

I now have a roku and just don't install the iPlayer. Simples. Used to watch with fire stick but the roku is better.

hibouhibou · 29/12/2016 09:41

Yep. Actually it's been crap for years. Thanks to the internet I can watch what I want when I want.

ginghamstarfish · 29/12/2016 09:42

Yes, awful, worst for years, not even a new (new to freesat/freeview at least) film. Before we went away (for 2 nights) I looked through the Radio Times to set the recorder - but there wasn't anything to record! May be time to stop paying for TV licence and pay for Netflix instead....

Witness for the prosecution. Scottish Hogmanay programmes which are shit but have always been shit and it wouldn't be New Year without them.
