It's my handbag!

Going for lunch with friends, I take a handbag big enough to fit a couple of books and toys in for dd. Rushing to the train (with dd in baby carrier) I think my bag feels a bit heavy, that's annoying. Get on the train and DH has stashed his fucking 1100 page book in there!

He doesn't see the problem as I was "taking a bag anyway." Yes, but I wasn't expecting to carry a fucking brick around. On the way home now and he's managed to read it for all of 10 minutes. Worth it then Angry

AIBU for not wanting to be his pack horse? Anyone have a man child who thinks their handbag is there for you to carry his shit around?!

Not the first time his has happened, you may be able to tell...

The number of women on this thread putting up with this is beyond me.

Tell them to carry their own bags!

Last time DH tried to pull this shite I made him carry my bag.

It's a minions bag. Bright yellow.

He never did it again.

I do it to DH, I very rarely use a handbag. Used to be cos I got mugged years ago at uni. I don't like carrying anything that won't fit in my pocket. I will pack a bag and make DH carry it.

Now I use a wheelchair I find everything piled in to a bag on the back and then child on my knee plus random bits of shopping, coats etc. Like I'm an actual cart horse.

YelloDraw · 27/12/2016 22:21

As soon as anything goes in my bag, it becomes a shared bag which he is responsible for carrying at least 50% of the time.

bloodyteenagers I was thinking the same thing, it reminds me of an article I read a while ago.

DH carries his own shite.
We've always gone by the rule 'one has the baby, one has the bag'. So when out together he's always either carrying a baby/wrangling a toddler or carrying my handbag.

We have 5DC and his attitude towards stuff like this is the reason I married him Grin

I've just bought a new handbag and go out of the way to ensure it's only big enough for necessities, else I'll end up carting god knows what about all day.

Buy your DH a manbag in the sales!

wurlycurly · 27/12/2016 22:44

I shove my crap into my husband's rucksack and carry only phone, keys and a card.

Hawkmoth · 27/12/2016 22:45

I had a lovely hobo bag that I had to get rid of because of this. I now have a small bag full of pens my things, a changing mat roll and a penguin rucksack that DH or a child carries.

Cherrysoup · 27/12/2016 22:45

I used to have the smallest ever bag with backstraps, literally enough room for purse, phone, keys. Hands free for 2 dogs or horse or both. Now I don't carry a bag at all. I'm permanently in sweatshirts for dog walking/horse stuff, so phone and keys max. (I lie, there's poo bags, horse treats, polos all falling out!)

melj1213 · 28/12/2016 00:12

Of course you can put your stuff in my bag ... but then you have to carry it.

whattheseithakasmean · 28/12/2016 08:25

I am fortunate that DH has a wee rucksack he takes most places (actually - I bought it for him Smile). Thinking about it, I am the guilty party for 'popping' things into his rucksack. I didn't realise it was so annoying Blush

Fortunately my DH is lovely and doesn't appear to mind - he is often carrying the DDs stuff too. Although I don't think we've ever put a 1100 page book in his bag...

tierny · 28/12/2016 09:46

My DH does this - not with books though, but keys, and when I say keys, they are the biggest bunch of mother trucking keys you have seen. apart from his door key and car key, and key to his mothers house, they are all work related. Why he can't just keep a separate bunch I don't know 😕

Sherlock35 · 28/12/2016 09:52

My daughter does this all the time. And my son. They are both old enough to carry a bag but just hand random shit to me including toys, blankets, tablets. Drives me nuts. I wish I could carry less or put stuff in pockets. I love bags and handbags but they really do weigh you down sometimes.
