AIBU to serve DD left over turkey for every meal till it's all gone?

I did it Nigella's way (brined, and then roasted for a comparatively short time) so at least it's not a ridiculously sawdusty and dry turkey, but it's still a flipping turkey and I've just lost the will to live while stripping the carcase. In fact I've given up half way and come to post on here instead.

DD was the one who wanted turkey: DH and I wanted goose, and MIL would have gone for duck. I know I am BVU, but I want to serve up this wretched bird for every single meal until DD begs never to see another turkey again! (Of course this may backfire on me: if the turkey onslaught doesn't put her off, she may be disgusted at the lack of leftovers from duck or goose next year.)

If I am BU, what do I do with all this sodding turkey?

She's six, if you didn't want to eat turkey then you should have got something else. You're the parent and make the decisions...

Turkey with mushrooms in white sauce val-au-vents ... bloody gorgeous!

This is the flipping 6kg turkey my dp bought home. Thankfully it's dripping with juices and tasty but omg leftovers! XD he does this every year because he loves turkey but I will only cook it annually, (there's two of us and a nine week old baby is the new addition this year). My ideas are usually:
Turkey korma,
Turkey risotto,
Turkey salad,
Turkey bolognaise,
Turkey and bacon pie,
Turkey soup,
Sandwiches,
Stuffed potato skins with turkey and bacon,
Turkey pizza,
Sweet and sour turkey.

Boil the bones to make stock oh and the dogs have turkey dinner with us xD I don't mind such a big one because it doesn't get wasted.

Do freeze it in portions as pp have said or you really will be sick of it!

Not DD fault that you bought an oversized turkey!!!

pklme · 25/12/2016 19:59

I only had a crown this year, roast in the bag from frozen, as I needed a very simple day.
It was juicy, though a hit salty.

There isn't much left though, which is a shame as we love left overs!

I didn't buy an oversized turkey! I bought a small turkey and I still have silly amounts - God knows what it would be like if I had bought an oversized one.

Those of you who are telling me I'm the parent and I should be dictating - do you ever let your DC have a say in minor decisions that affect the whole family? What we eat on Christmas day is a pretty minor decision in the scheme of things, and DD's eating it too, so I don't see why it's outrageous to take her preference into account.

We had the smallest turkey we've ever had and still have mountains of leftovers.

It'll be eaten tomorrow in sandwiches.

Then the rest I'll strip and freeze in sandwich bags (but learning from previous mistakes, I shall freeze in small portions, not in one giant lump!)

Then it'll be
Turkey risotto
Turkey curry
Turkey stir fry
Turkey pie
Turkey supreme

Looking at the amount of other leftovers, I may also plate up some individual Christmas dinners into old takeaway cartons, cover them in gravy, and freeze them as ready meals. Always useful.

You wouldn't actually feed her left overs everyday.....

It's a one off. You have learnt your lesson.

LordPeterWimsey · 25/12/2016 20:19

Gah, I really should have put "lighthearted" in the title! Of course I wouldn't feed her unadorned leftovers every day.
