AIBU?

To let my child eat two eggs in one sitting?

My dd (3 next month) loves eggs. She recently started asking for 2 boiled eggs instead of 1 for lunch.
My dm was a bit Shock at me giving her 2 eggs in one go. The next time I saw my nan she said to me 'I think you should phone the health visitor or doctor and check it's ok to have 2 eggs'. I have Googled but can't find anything.
The eggs are only small and dd is not 'bunged up' which seems to be their concern. She also only has boiled eggs once or twice a week, not everyday!
Is 2 small eggs really a problem?

I don't have a problem giving them to her when she wants them lovelearning. That's just roughly when she has them and that was causing my mum and nan to be alarmed! Some days she'll have scrambled or omelette or something completely different.

Eggs are fab. As for the HM and doctor comment she sounds like my MIL who wants me to go about the tiniest things.
Nowadays she gets a funny look for it.

My ds (15 months) has 2 sometimes just chopped up with some cucumber, pepper, carrot sticks. Sometimes with a piece of toast.

He doesn't have them everyday as he does have a variety of lunches but I see no problem giving a child eggs everyday

Eggs are one of the most nutritious foods you can eat. All that scare mongering about cholesterol has been debunked.

Unless there s a family history or hypercholesterolemia (genetic link) then it's fine. My one year old has an egg every day for breakfast and probably twice a week will also ask for omelette for lunch.

Scrambled eggs was a twice weekly lunch for me and DD before she started school. I always used 4 medium between two of us on a slice of toast each. I only ever gave her one egg if she was having a poached one on top of beans or spaghetti shapes.

It's fine. 2 eggs for a 3 year old nothing wrong with that, eggs aren't the largest of things anyway.

Wait until you've got teens my ds can eat 5 eggs with toast and a huge glass of milk after rugby

I think older people seem to think there's a health risk eating eggs more than once a week............... not heard that in years though!

When I saw a dietitian last year one of the things she told me to do was eat plenty of eggs...

I've also just decided to have eggs for lunch, poached (two of them on each half of a wholemeal English muffin). DD wants scrambled (with brown sauce, heathen).

Eggs are a much better food than what is usually on offer as an alternative such as cereal or toast.

Yeah, my DM also used to say we'd get 'egg bound' or 'bunged up' if we ate too many eggs. i THINK it was because alot of protein can (?) cause constipation- but if you wat enough fruit and eg that will not be a problem.

Oddly though my DM was more worried about being bunged up from eggs than she was about the 3 meat meals of day I was brought up with - lamb chops or mince for breakfast - ham etc for lunch and meat and two veg for dinner. (She was brought up on a sheep farm and thought that was normal).

I eat two eggs for breakfast almost every day. My parents are horrified, but they are from the 'Salmonella' and 'Cholesterol' fearing generations.

My mother used to witter on about becoming 'egg bound' when I was younger. I thought it meant I might become addicted to eggs. Realised she meant constipated later in life. BlushConfused.
Wanders off to make eggs for lunch. Yum.

I wish mine would eat eggs. But only in a 'pancake ' with mushed banana will they even be considered.

Ah well. They're not all the same

My ds(9) has just had 3 (large) eggs for lunch, wouldn't enter my head to restrict him to two! He can have as many as he likes as far as I'm concerned, eggs are so nutritious!

Eggs are designed by nature to provide the perfect balance of nutrition for a growing animal.

Although not really growing anymore, I eat shed oads of them. Why not two every day?? They really are wonderful things.
