To feel bad I've only got 5 Xmas presents for DD?

Just wondering what you all think really... my wee girl is 13 months old and she's not really "into" toys and what-not just yet! So I've found it hard to decide what to get her for Xmas

I've got her:

• Toot toot friends kingdom palace
• Beat Belle
• Leapfrog picnic basket
• Vtech learning table
• Vtech kitten and carrier

Plus a bomber jacket, dress and new pjs...just beating myself up that it's not enough! We've had a shit year and money's pretty tight!

That is all age appropriate stuff that she will love. Will she have presents from others?

It's fine honestly.

Believe me she's just going to chew the paper. She will have neither the attention span or the Interest.

I know all the posts on face book show dozens of gifts but it's unnecessary and too many makes them meaningless.

In the nicest possible way -she is one. She won't care or remember. She wouldn't mind if you wrapped up some chocolate buttons and that was it. Buy what you want and what you can afford -don't go by other people's standards.

It's plenty, it all sounds lovely and it's age appropriate. Don't feel bad. She won't even remember!

She won't know any different ! Enjoy a minimal Christmas while you can

Sounds like an awful lot for a one year old. Why are you beating yourself up?

She's getting a gift from my mum, my brother, my nan and DP's mum too - so she'll have a fair few other things I guess I'm just being silly and letting the Facebook Blaggers get to me lol!

They get bored of opening them when they are so young. Just see it as the bigger they are the more they will cost, seems to be the trend so far with mine and my eldest is only 8.

By the time they get to 14 you will probably be feeling guilty about how much you have spent!

That's it from us. He's not even 2 yet and that's plenty for him

We didn't buy our DC anything when they were one. What's the point?! They don't know.

My DD got a stuffed toy for her first Christmas from me/Santa. She had no concept of what was going on as she was 11 months old. She loves that stuffed toy more than anything in the world even now, 7 years later. Don't be pressurised into spending more because it's 'expected'.

Children of that age have no concept of Christmas, wait till she's older and puts 100 items on her Christmas list

It's fine...too many gifts is overwhelming for them anyway.

I get my dc one main gift each and then 2 or 3 extra things each. (They also get their stockings from Santa). Once you add in gifts from relatives and friends, they end up with quite a pile each.

She's just a baby and any more than what you've got would probably overwhelm her hugely.

My dd is about the same age and she's got a soft body doll, a xylophone, stacking cups, some duplo and a couple of board books.

My 3 almost 4 year old has been a nightmare

She's now convinced Santa is bringing her a leapfrog picnic basket...he isn't! I've got what ive got her and I'm not getting her anything else

I bought the Vtech table for my child's birthday. They love playing with it.... for about 10 minutes. Their current favourite toy is a pair of old glasses and a cardboard roll from finished wrapping paper. So we've only bought small bits for Xmas - book, small bath toys, teddy and pjs. The biggest 'spend' is on a nice toy box to put away all the ignored toys! Don't worry about it, one year olds just don't care much.

She won't have a clue op. That's about the same as what I've got my 2 year old. 7 year old has a lot more because he would notice only getting a few presents.

Sounds fine to me. My dc (2, 4, 6) only get 3 under the tree plus a roatmas day outfit that is wrapped and a new pair of PJ's on Christmas eve. They get a stocking too, but in there are school tights, pants, vests, socks, hair clips and bands for school, pencils, new hat scarf and gloves set, tooth brush and paste and some chocolate (apart from the chocolate, they all needed anyway!) That's literally what they are getting.

Plus a bomber jacket, dress and new pjs... Wrap these up too, that's eight presents - plenty 😊

This is what people mean when they talk about the madness of Christmas.

Another one here with no presents for a 17 month old - she's got plenty from other friends/family, I'm saving the cash for next year when she does know it's Christmas!

As long as they come in boxes she'll be fine with that. Boxes are an endless source of joy.

Please don't feel pressured in to spending more.

By the way the V Tech toys are adorable. I've not even had my baby yet and I'm looking forward to buying some!

My dd is now 15. She was 11 months old at her first Christmas and as far as I can remember I bought her an old fashioned walker with wooden bricks and a plastic house where you pressed the buttons and an animal jumped out. And that was it. But then I didn't have FB and a bunch of idiots posting pictures of mounds of presents for their babies all over it, so I had no idea I was a mean parent!

I got far less for my dc at that age. Iirc a bag of mega blocks, keys and sorting washing was all they did at that age.
Save your money till they're older and will know what's going on.
