We just did the bulk of our wrapping and DH wants to leave the stuff for our girls under the tree...

Our DD's are 3 & 6 and totally believe in Santa. I've kind of perpetuated the myth in our house that Santa brings the stuff on your list so they just ask for one or two things. That's in separate wrapping, hidden in a cupboard. (Hatchimal x 2, Lolly maker and paints!)

This is (pretty much) everything else.

My worry is.... it doesn't look impressive anyway... but it's going to look even less impressive Christmas morning when we just add the four Santa presents to it.

Don't you think we should keep it all locked away until Christmas Eve / morning reveal?

(In our defence we have given the best stuff to my mum! As we're going there for family Christmas morning straight after and they need stuff there! Still not loads though!)

DH thinks I'm being ridiculous and we should leave it there. I'm thinking he can't be fucked to carry it upstairs and doesn't care that it's the first year our three year old has cared about Christmas! Hmm

I'll go with the majority !

I'm with pp who said they'll be too tempted to try and unwrap it. At three and six little fingers can poke holes etc. We can't leave ours out due to an inquisitive four year old and two scratchy cats. I'd keep them hidden so nobody is tempted to touch or peek! Otherwise you'll spend the rest of the week saying "no don't touch that it's for Christmas"

In our house (DS is coming up to 11and is on the cusp shall we say) all his gifts are stowed away from prying fingers and only adult gifts are left under the tree - it's just convenient.
Although I did make the mistake of putting the doggie gifts for the neighbours out - it was a team effort the cat dragged it out for a 'look' and the Labrador decided to sample it.

Keep the secret for as long as possible but pressies under the tree always look festive.

My children are grown up now, but until they left home the only presents that went under the tree were those other people had given them before Christmas. No family presents until Christmas morning. Even teenagers won't leave them alone!

Lules, we have presents under the tree - they go under when the tree goes up (was the 16th this year). My four dc are between 16 & 5 and we've always done it like that. I didn't really think about it, that's the way my parents did it and I just carried on. FC only brings stocking presents which are hidden until Christmas Eve.

Dh was amazed - in his family the presents were all hidden - he couldn't believe that the dc wouldn't be overcome by temptation but it has never happened. Dbro/Dsis/I similarly didn't peek either. I've never had to make a big deal about leaving them alone, they just do.

We currently have main presents from us, two sets of uncles/aunts & one set of grandparents under the tree so it looks like masses imo. They have 2-4 (depending on cost) presents from us each.

It looks fine to me. We've put our gifts from family under the treen the dining room and will put Christmas day gifts under living room tree and the thought of the Christmas eve tip toe with things from upstairs isn't something I'm looking forward to. The last tooth fairy job was like a classic comedy sketch.

The first thing I would ask my big brother on Christmas morning when he came to wake me up (at 2 o'clock!) was "has he been?" We would then pester our parents every hour until about 6.30-7am when they would FINALLY come downstairs.
Every house does it differently but these are my lovely memories and I can't imagine it any other way Smile

I've got that robin paper 😊

Move them. It's all part of the magic.

When we were young all our presents were brought down on Christmas eve after we were asleep and a pillowcase also at the end of the bed that was opened at silly o'clock by all three of us. My poor parents rarely got to bed before 1am. I remember one particular Christmas I had a red plastic radio in my pillowcase (back in the days of Radios Luxembourg and Caroline) and I turned it on rather loudly. In came lovely Dad begging asking us to go back to sleep until a reasonable hour. So lots of clock watching until 6am which we thought was acceptable. Our poor parents. I was about 9, my sister 7 and my brother was 3.

Luckily our son has never been an early riser at Christmas, probably about 7.30am, we used to be up earlier jigging about in excitement waiting for him and we knew what most of them were!! He's now 13 and firmly in the "Kevin" years (sorry to all you nice people named Kevin, blame Harry Enfield) so gets up when he feels like it as he knows pretty much all he's got. Oh for those early years again. Xmas Grin
