We just did the bulk of our wrapping and DH wants to leave the stuff for our girls under the tree...

Our DD's are 3 & 6 and totally believe in Santa. I've kind of perpetuated the myth in our house that Santa brings the stuff on your list so they just ask for one or two things. That's in separate wrapping, hidden in a cupboard. (Hatchimal x 2, Lolly maker and paints!)

This is (pretty much) everything else.

My worry is.... it doesn't look impressive anyway... but it's going to look even less impressive Christmas morning when we just add the four Santa presents to it.

Don't you think we should keep it all locked away until Christmas Eve / morning reveal?

(In our defence we have given the best stuff to my mum! As we're going there for family Christmas morning straight after and they need stuff there! Still not loads though!)

DH thinks I'm being ridiculous and we should leave it there. I'm thinking he can't be fucked to carry it upstairs and doesn't care that it's the first year our three year old has cared about Christmas! Hmm

I'll go with the majority !

I would put them all away, and just have the presents you are giving to others under the tree. The Santa gifts you have are great...it is far worse to have a gluttony of gifts. ☺

Sixisthemagicnumber · 18/12/2016 06:25

I want to know who this Sandra is that a couple of people have wrote about Grin

Sixisthemagicnumber · 18/12/2016 06:27

I have teenagers and I still don't put any presents under the tree until they have gone to bed on Xmas eve. Even at 15 they can't resist poking and prodding and asking if they can open just a small one.

elodie2000 · 18/12/2016 08:09

We never put presents under the tree until late Christmas eve!
Your presents look lovely & if you're worried there aren't enough, don't! There are plenty there!
I can't stand the 'a million presents taking up the whole room' thing. It's a bit Xmas Hmm

Mindtrope · 18/12/2016 08:16

Santa brings all the presents in our house, in secret on christmas eve- it's a huge part of the fun.

allegretto · 18/12/2016 08:18

They look nice - what's wrong with them?

allegretto · 18/12/2016 08:19

We always put them under the tree before. (Presents from relatives and is not FC).

Lilaclily · 18/12/2016 08:22

Regardless of whether you put them away , that's a lovely amount , don't over think Smile

NickyEds · 18/12/2016 08:22

Where did you get the Robin wrapping paper? It's lovely

Of course you have to hide them. Or else how can Santa bring them? I have an almost three year old and a pile if unopened presents would last about as long as it takes me to get hungry or need a wee. The second he was alone in the room they woukd be open!

Lilaclily · 18/12/2016 08:23

Agree with allegretto, a tree looks nicer with presents underneath Xmas Smile

chocoholic89 · 18/12/2016 08:23

I never leave presents under tree, my dc think that father xmas brings everything even tho we sign presses from us and other family members. Had no questions yet.

BeingATinselTwatItsABingThing · 18/12/2016 08:31

Wait what?!? Has Santa decided to be Sandra now?!? Well that's a twist! Xmas Grin

Witchend · 18/12/2016 08:33

We've always put presents from each other under the tree (stocking presents go... in the stockings) and never had any present opened except one year when ds was just crawling and chewed a hole in one. So that wouldn't worry me.

If that's all they ever get, they won't think it's a thin do.
But if you want to increase it you can put necessities in their stockings-mine always get underwear, toothbrush, stuff they need for school etc. It's not exciting as a present, but it makes their pile look much bigger and then they get the excitement opening it too. I've never had a "oh why is that a present!" from any of them.

Crumbs1 · 18/12/2016 08:34

Keep it under the tree - looks beyond exciting to little ones. Good lesson to learn about resisting temptation!

Raines100 · 18/12/2016 08:36

LMAO at I still believe in Sandra !

Lovely amount of presents, OP. Put them away until Xmas Wink

NicknameUsed · 18/12/2016 08:37

Only me worried about being burgled then?

Whatsername17 · 18/12/2016 08:39

Agree with all of the others - the amount is fine but hide them! We put presents from aunties and uncles under the tree to be opened after lunch. Makes Santa's presents a bit more special and keeps the excitement going.

CrazyCavalierLady · 18/12/2016 08:39

Your tree looks beautiful and there are plenty of gifts however too tempting for little ones.

Friends and relatives presents always go under our tree, never the kids. By the time Christmas eve comes around beneath the tree is looking quite bare but Christmas morning it's amazing! My girls are now 26 & 20 and we still do this.

However growing up my Nan used to put all her presents under the tree and we were allowed to shake and jiggle our own. We also were allowed to ask questions and if we guessed correctly Nana would let you open that present!!! It took me years before I realised that Nana must have purchased lots of small gifts just for the purpose of giving us a gift each time we visited in December (probably weekly). Our "big" gift was always given on Christmas Eve when we went for dinner. My Nan wasn't wealthy but she adored Christmas and spent all year saving and planning for it. I got my love of Christmas from her and I miss her most at this time of year. Xmas Sad

diddl · 18/12/2016 08:39

Love the paper.

Who are the presents from then?

FC used to leave us a stocking on the bed & presents under the tree.

Olympiathequeen · 18/12/2016 08:41

Hide them until Christmas morning. If they believe in Santa then he only comes on Christmas Day !

Bluntness100 · 18/12/2016 08:41

Oh you ve got to put them away. Have the kids seen them already? The whole magic of Xmas morning when you're that little is running down the stairs and seeing the pressies, is exciting for them. For the few mins it will take to put them away it is worth the effort.

Badcat666 · 18/12/2016 08:42

HIDE THEM!!!! HIDE HIDE HIDE!!!! squeals with excitement

I still remember sitting on the stairs with my eyes shut before being allowed into the front room and suddenly, by magic, there was a pile of presents for me!!!

Gives me a warm warm glow inside thinking about it.

LittleBooInABox · 18/12/2016 08:47

I leave presents for the family under the tree, the DS helps wrap so he knows what's in it.

Then Santa presents are there Christmas morning.

SoupDragon · 18/12/2016 08:54

We have tree presents and then Santa presents that magically appear in the empty sacks they left out the night before.

Wait what?!? Has Santa decided to be Sandra now?!

Yes, he identifies as a woman now.

SoupDragon · 18/12/2016 08:56

Santa presents are all wrapped in different pape to th tree presents, a different pattern for each child so no labels are needed.

Even through they are 17, 15 and 10 now.
