I've just finished doing mine online, there will be 7 of us. Came to £370 Shock will probably need to buy a few other bits too on top. Probably looking at £400.

Does that sound about right? Seems very high.

How much are you spending and for how many?

4 of us and its roughly around 180? That includes drink - about 60 on drink

Bearfrills · 15/12/2016 11:49

I won't know the exact amount until it's picked, packed and delivered but the guide price is currently showing as £165. There are five of us (two adults, three DC aged 7 and under).

That's all the food from Christmas Eve through to New Year (so a week of shopping), the stuff for Christmas dinner including a turkey crown, nappies and wipes for the youngest because we'll be running low by next week and some Christmas treats like a tin of Celebrations and a box of biscuits.

tangerino · 15/12/2016 11:51

Absolutely loads- I have spent about £300 on meat and cheese. Veg and general stuff- probably £100 more. I have also done a big booze shop at Berry Bros and spent £800(!) but that will cover a longer period than just Christmas.

Sparlklesilverglitter · 15/12/2016 11:53

We've pre ordered food & drink for delivery on the 23rd. £180

Pinkheart5915 · 15/12/2016 11:57

How much is 3 tins of beans and a loaf these days?

EatTheCake · 15/12/2016 12:01

It won't be less than £400 it never is

OhTheRoses · 15/12/2016 12:01

Including things like flowers, napkins, wine (mixed case), spirits x 2 bottles, soft drinks and mixers, about £450 for four days but I will serve about 30 main meals - will get two days' of family meals from leftovers afterwards.

DailyFail1 · 15/12/2016 12:35

£400 to feed 30 people over a week.

Kenworthington · 15/12/2016 12:41

Prob about £300. Meat is £75 and is on order and just have to get the rest. I'm not buying extra good bits for the day though as we are always too full from Xmas lunch to eat anything else. But wine, lots and lots of wine and soft drinks for the kids too

KurriKurri · 15/12/2016 13:17

My family is smaller (just me and adult DD on Christmas day, DS and DDIl coming over on Boxing day)
We are vegetarian - So no turkey obv. And DD has dietary requirements that mean we can't go overboard or she'll be ill.

So I just keep it all to a minimum. It'll probably be under £50 - which will include a few sweets, bits for Christmas dinner, some savoury nibbles, a bottle of wine for me and soft drink for DD.

Katy07 · 15/12/2016 13:26

I've gone with organic turkey this year so that's £75 gone before I've even bought the bread for the turkey sarnies!

Snowflakes1122 · 15/12/2016 13:47

Reassuring to see it's not just me spending around this.

Looks like beans on toast until Christmas then!

GizmoFrisby · 15/12/2016 14:05

Around £95 for food and probably around £50 on drink there is only 2 adults one 7yo and one 1yo

JackShit · 15/12/2016 14:44

Less than 100 quid. The amount spent on meat is gross!

Sallystyle · 15/12/2016 14:57

I don't know, as much as it costs.

I don't think it has ever cost more than £200 for 10 of us though.

1horatio · 15/12/2016 14:59

Airplane tickets to my family...

But we host a New Years party....

Which will cost a bit, I suspect.

We'll have mostly local vegan food, btw. We're not vegan, but thought it would be a fun and non-fussy idea.

MuseumOfCurry · 15/12/2016 18:13

I'm making a beef tenderloin for 6 and including breakfast, alcohol etc I'll probably spend 400. My sister niece are coming and I've got my Ocado order all sorted. :-)

Crunchymum · 15/12/2016 18:30

A few hundred... and we're having Christmas dinner at my folks so what we spend doesn't include the actual festive meal Shock

I have £130 in Nectar points so that will take care of booze, nibbles, confectionery and a few foody gifts.

I then grab some party food from M&S and Waitrose (another £40-£50 - for 4 of us Boxing day)

I have a Morrisons shop coming on 23rd and that will be essentials, nappies, fresh stuff for breakfasts for a few days.

x2boys · 15/12/2016 18:36

my mum and dad are paying for mine and my dsis families so four adults four children and themselves to go out to a local carvery on xmas day thats £400in itself we will probably spend about £150 on the rest of xmas food and alcohol.

Lugeeta · 15/12/2016 18:40

£100 for a turkey and about another £100 for the sides for xmas day.

About £100 on alcohol.

That's just for xmas day. We will probably spend about another £200 on other groceries for the week.

Pengweng · 15/12/2016 18:43

Meat and cheese and sides from Sainsburys - £50 (pork not turkey though)
All other stuff ordered from Morrisons - £70
Already stocked up on snacky bits and pieces and chocolates so that was probably £50
Still got to buy some booze though we have quite a lot in already so prob just some beer as DHs parents are bringing wine.

Maybe £250 for 6 adults and 2 kids.

Yoarchie · 15/12/2016 18:48

I won't spend much different to a weekly shop. The turkey will cost more than a normal roast chicken but it will just be off Tesco shelf. I got crackers a month ago and don't plan on getting too much as I hate it all sitting about after Christmas.

Bauble16 · 15/12/2016 18:51

Roughly £300. Soon adds up
