I've just finished doing mine online, there will be 7 of us. Came to £370 Shock will probably need to buy a few other bits too on top. Probably looking at £400.

Does that sound about right? Seems very high.

How much are you spending and for how many?

Loads I reckon. The turkey is 40 quid, just spent 50 quid on booze and mixers, spent another 40 on booze, and 90 the other day on snacky bits. We still need desserts, fresh stuff, mincemeat, more mixers, pigs in blankets, ice cubes. Probably 4-500 and theres only ë of us, though nothing will go to waste

We plan to only eat Christmas food for 2 days then back to normal. So we are budgeting £100 for a family of 4 including 2 bottles of wine. We make a few starters etc which brings the cost down.

I have spent about 150 so far but a lot of that has been nectar points and club card vouchers. I expect to spend around 150 more but that will include normal food for before and after Christmas. Total includes napkins, flowers, crackers and a lot of booze.

£240 for a party for around 10 people on the 18th, Xmas lunch for 2, and Boxing Day lunch for 5, plus all meals up to - but not including - New Year's Day. Includes sherry and spirits, but not champagne, wine or port, which I paid for over the year, and came to around £200. Bought crackers and table decorations back in September, and made my own cake at the beginning of October, which now needs to be marzipanned and iced.

no more than £200 for 5 of us, but that includes £50 on an iceland card and £120 on an asda card, £30 for a boneless turkey crown and a leg of lamb from the butchers, should last most of the week but new year will cost around £100.

atticusclaw2 · 15/12/2016 19:33

A lot. There are 13 of us on Christmas day and then 11 on boxing day

Mitfordhons · 15/12/2016 19:36

About £100 for six of us, MIL is bringing the turkey we already have spirits. I used to spend £500 and now I'm more careful frankly no one has noticed the difference.

MrGrumpy01 · 15/12/2016 19:39

Probably less than £15. That will be turkey and all the trimmings.

Already have the meat so the shop will be pretty much a normal weekly shop of around £50/60.

That is for me, Dh, 3 children and mil on Christmas day.

We are hosting Xmas for 18 people. Current Tesco online basket is tallying at £125, got to pick up a joint of beef from butchers which I believe will come to about £60. We are also roasting goose (£30 from tesco's freezer), it went down very well last year. PIL are cooking the turkey crown and ham. We have a lot of meat but we live off all of this for a few days after. We don't cook for up to 3 days after. I have been putting things in the basket the last few food shops to try and spread the cost. If I run a tally of the costs we will end up spending £250 to £300.

MrGrumpy01 · 15/12/2016 19:41

We don't drink at all so our only 'tipple' is a half price bottle of shloer.
