... for her children. She says they deserve a great Christmas but wouldn't they be equally as happy with, say, 10 presents?

Normally I say live and let live but that is obscene, especially the need to share and show off. Hmm I'm not in the 'one gift and an orange' camp but come on.

Spice22 · 15/12/2016 20:23

Anyone watching it on channel 5? Seems she bought decent and expensive gifts after all. Tablets, iPhone, nice bags and toys.

I'm pleased for them TBH and think she can spend her money however she pleases. The kids got quantity AND quality !

MakeItStopNeville · 15/12/2016 20:33

I think there are only so many, "Wow! Just what I wanted!" faces a kid could pull before it would get a bit dull. For everyone.

MrGrumpy01 · 15/12/2016 20:40

My presents work out on average £5 each but the £10 cd is offset against the 99p bubble bath.

However I wonder where she finds space for everything but maybe a lot of it is stuff that others would just buy. I do a bit of that, bubble bath, socks, a onesie, so maybe a lot of the presents are essential items. Tbh I have no idea how you would get to so many presents if not.

A very clear illustration of the greed and selfishness rampant in today's me-me-me society. Astonishing that anyone could be so lacking in self-awareness as to consider it something to brag about.

Spice22 · 15/12/2016 21:20

Dixie No. She said she buy them uniform etc but not much else during the year - that's why she spoils them at Christmas.

WallisofWindsor · 15/12/2016 21:28

Not bothered about the woman who buys 100 presents- I'm just disgusted with the woman who lives in a 'pretend' castle who is clearly delusional, clearly has lots of money but zero style- all wasted on naff ghastly objects- and will jump at every given opportunity to flaunt her tasteless lifestyle.
I mean, I could go on and on.............

And there's the wonderful man on Benefits- who is using some of his allowance to buy presents for the homeless-that's my kind of guy!

Nicpem1982 · 15/12/2016 21:32

Wallis - love the guy helping homeless people and the lady who has organised Xmas dinner for the lonely elderly

WallisofWindsor · 15/12/2016 21:41

Nicpem- Isn't it amazing?

Nicpem1982 · 15/12/2016 21:43

It really is :) actual Christmas spirit

youarenotkiddingme · 16/12/2016 15:54

I quite liked the programme.

The family with all the gifts seemed quite normal and down to Earth and mum seemed to buy a lot of clothes etc so good decent presents and not tat for the sake of it.

The kids in the castle however were just not showing any interest or gratitude in their gifts IMO.

Especially loved the ones who gave to the needy.

Was a bit confused by the dog woman - the dog party for rescue pooches appeared to have 3 guests! Not much of a party!

Alfieisnoisy · 16/12/2016 15:57

She initially shared ONE photo and n FB and it went viral. She now runs a group on FB which looks at bargains, she doesn't buy tat. I like her and if that's the way she likes Christmas then why not?

TeriyakiStirfry · 17/12/2016 08:18

She doesn't buy tat

Not sure what a popcorn maker is if not tat. I watched it and found her shopping approach questionable. Going into the Disney store and getting frozen bags and phone cases just because they're on sale, it's needless. She talked about not taking her kids on £400 shopping trips during the year to justify it - I don't know anyone who does that.

throwingpebbles · 17/12/2016 08:21

The pile of gifts was fairly astonishing; but I was mainly just struck by how boring their Christmas Day looked. They were just all sat unwrapping solidly.

i was more appalled on the woman who spends sich a ridiculous amount on her dog.

And that family in the castle to not seem like a very happy family.

PossumInAPearTree · 17/12/2016 08:30

Bet she's glad she didn't buy the bastard Tesco glitter reindeer wrapping paper.

LuluLovesFruitcakes · 17/12/2016 08:31

I honestly don't see the point. My friends family used to do this exact thing with her son. Mountains and mountains of christmas gifts that covered half the living room - followed by a similar sized pile for his birthday a week later. He never opened them all.

What's the point in buying gifts for someone that never gets opened, much less used?

Aeroflotgirl · 17/12/2016 09:14

Very excessive, I think it's more for her, and not the kids.tbry will be happy with a few nice things each, instead of a mountain. Of crap.

Aeroflotgirl · 17/12/2016 09:19

The family in the castle were just vulgar. Money can't buy class, the ladies behaviour was cringworthy.

Alfieisnoisy · 17/12/2016 09:21

I want a popcorn maker so I wouldn't consider that tat Grin. Each to their own I guess.

I personally cannot be bothered to do all that she does just for one occasion in a year. She starts in January for the following year, but I do like her. She seems a nice person from her posts on the FB group.

Meanwhile DS has chosen 8 days before X,as to tell me he has changed his mind about the Xbox game he originally asked for (which I have spent about £65 buying with the strategy guide). He now wants a PS4 console instead. Xmas Hmm . He can sod right off with that one. He will be unwrapping the original chosen game on the big day and be bloody grateful for it.

Cagliostro · 17/12/2016 09:21

Have been waiting for this thread. There's an article like this every year!

Always makes me feel better about spoiling my own kids though (to nowhere near that extent)

Aeroflotgirl · 17/12/2016 10:11

Taking a picture of your tree with the enormous pile of presents, and putting it on social media for all to see is just so wrong. I guess most people will just scroll on, but it gives out a very untasteful message.
