... for her children. She says they deserve a great Christmas but wouldn't they be equally as happy with, say, 10 presents?

Where would you put all that stuff?

OopsDearyMe · 14/12/2016 20:26

'They deserve it' why ? Did they suffer a trauma? I mean maybe you could justify it as a one off kind of surprise! But they are gonna expect it every year now. How's she gonna manage that when they are teenagers.

RandomDent · 14/12/2016 20:31

Because she only bought 85 each last year

GlitterGlue · 14/12/2016 20:36

Her money saving website is pretty poor. Oh look, here's a jumper a bit cheaper. I doubt very much she's making much money from that.

DeleteOrDecay · 14/12/2016 20:37

It may be her money and her choice but that doesn't mean we are not allowed an opinion especially when she's so public about it.

I think it's excessive and totally unnecessary and I don't think her kids will thank her in the long run.

steff13 · 14/12/2016 20:38

300 presents and spent £1500.

I spent about $1000 and didn't get anywhere near 300 presents. That's an average of $5 per present. If I were her kids, I'd just want the cash.

BabooshkaKate · 14/12/2016 20:40

Mrs Dursley, is that you?

MsJamieFraser · 14/12/2016 20:41

I've read thats she buys only in sales and starts on the Boxing Day sales.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 14/12/2016 20:43

This is chat, anyone can post what they like within talk guidelines of courseSmile.

The 'why do you care' and 'why are you bothered' responses are fucking pointless.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 14/12/2016 20:45
  • Of course it's AIBU, the point still stands.
Nicpem1982 · 14/12/2016 20:45

Children's tastes change so much over a 12 month period so it would be difficult to buy Xmas gifts so far in advance.

Crunchymum · 14/12/2016 20:45

Wonder how much the wrapping paper cost?..

Nicpem1982 · 14/12/2016 20:47

Not much crunchy I imagine she buys it in the sales....

e1y1 · 14/12/2016 20:47

So she can go to the press and brag about it.

For the rest of the year, she is probably on MN complaining how spoilt and entitled her DC are Grin.

However, she wants to, and she can so let her get on with it. Main issue I have is why has she gone to the press, why does she think anybody cares?

BobbieDog · 14/12/2016 20:47

It works out an average of £5 per present. So basically there is nothing decent in all that lot it's just bits of rubbish from bargain stores

Nicpem1982 · 14/12/2016 20:55

That's a huge pile of tat you can't buy much for a fiver I'd rather go for quality presents than quantity I think but every one makes a different choice

IWouldLikeToSeeTheseMangoes · 14/12/2016 21:00

Probably doing it for the Facebook likes though clearly that didn't give her enough kicks so had to tell the press about it. That is seriously fucking mental though.

mummydawn07 · 14/12/2016 21:00

it is madness and I personally wouldn't do it, my girls get about 6-7 smallish presents and 2 big ones each but even they don't cost a huge amount, they also get presents form family and friends. But each to their own and it's her choice, I personally think there are more important things in a child's life that aren't materialistic, perhaps she's trying to make up for something? I don't believe that children needs tonnes of toys and all the latest gadgets can't understand it when I see kids as young as 11 walking around with the latest iPhone Confused

Yamadori · 14/12/2016 21:01

Wonder how much the wrapping paper cost?
Grin

NerrSnerr · 14/12/2016 21:01

Christ. My daughter got about 20 presents for her 2nd birthday (from us, friends and family) and it took her a week to open them she was so overwhelmed.

Nicpem1982 · 14/12/2016 21:03

It's obviously a ploy for attention

Tarla · 14/12/2016 21:03

I wonder how long the wrapping took rather than how much the wrapping cost! I started half-arsedly wrapping a week ago, has wrapped a grand total of three gifts. Told DH I'd do some wrapping tonight, binge watching TWD and eating Chinese food instead.

SaucyJack · 14/12/2016 21:05

Everyone needs a hobby.

I'd rather drink Strongbow meself mind.

mummydawn07 · 14/12/2016 21:07

GlitterGlue, I don't think it's the one on c4 tonight, I'm sure it's on channel 5 tomorrow at 8pm called xmas excess: parents splash the cash
