**SPOILER ALERT** AIBU to be disgusted with two of the women on The Apprentice

Yes I know it's reality TV and probably fixed. But it is one of the few of these types of shows where the winner is chosen on their business acumen, intelligence, team work, cooperation, creativity, etc etc.

So why have TWO of this year's finalists, Frances and Jessica, decided to throw all that away and be pictured in their underwear for a "racy shoot"? Frances runs her own children's clothing company. Jessica has an online fashion business.

But fuck it, none of that is important because they look OK in their underwear.

OP posts:
gluteustothemaximus · 14/12/2016 15:32

I think the issue (for me) is DH and I love the apprentice, to see real (ish) business men and women. But now it's just a platform to make it as a 'celebrity' and that's not what I wanted.

I don't have an issue with anyone in their underwear; that's their choice. But increasingly the apprentice just doesn't have any quality candidates anymore. James Hill, Luisa Zissman, and now Jessica Cunningham all using it as a platform to do other reality TV. They want to be celebs, not serious business owners/creators.

Temporaryname137 · 14/12/2016 15:33

Jessica has already shown she thinks trying to be a coy girlie is the way forward, with her "let me buy your cigars cheap, my daddy will be so happy" routine.

Biscuit for the spoiler, that was a really lame thing to do.

I was at an event recently where the sausage guy who got knocked out in ep 2 or 3 was selling his sausages. he pocketed my card and handed me his i-zettle, and looked at me as if i were an idiot when i asked him to swap! He had a massive queue, I suspect he was rather stressed. I'm veggie so didn't eat them myself, but the feedback was that the sausages were rather good, however.

wictional · 14/12/2016 15:34

Wow, YABVU. Any woman has the right to do what they want with their body! She can be a strong confident business woman who loves her figure and wants to show it off.
Unfortunately by this logic, she can also be horrendously judgemental, as shown by some of the responses above.

Anyway, girl power!

whatsthecomingoverthehill · 14/12/2016 15:37

AIBU to be disgusted

I didn't need to read any more to come to the conclusion that yes, YABU.

DontTouchTheMoustache · 14/12/2016 15:39

Ffs I've been avoiding reading the "rumours" so I don't get it ruined for me. Cheers OP.
And no its not common sense that it may have spoilers because common sense dictates if you are gonna include spoilers you have a warning!

BeverlyGoldberg · 14/12/2016 15:42

CrankyCunt is it very unreasonable to suggest we should be aware a thread might contain spoilers.

Although it doesn't surprise me that they're not in the final as they're both terrible.

creakyknees13 · 14/12/2016 15:57

Um, they aren't serious businesswomen. Frances is a WAG who is friends with loads of other celeb WAGs (plus she is crap). Jessica is friends with all the TOWIE and Geordie Shore lot (plus she is a massive liability, crying in meetings, having panic attacks in front of clients, being massively inappropriate). I am not surprised in the slightest that they both stripped off.

They are of the Luisa Zissman variety of entrepreneurs.

PeteSwotatoes · 14/12/2016 16:03

They both have the sex appeal of a Brussels sprout. The photoshoots are pure cringe.

originalmavis · 14/12/2016 16:03

Michelle Mone (so?) Has posed in her undies. Of course she made her millions selling brasand she could pass as a model.

amispartacus · 14/12/2016 16:06

She can be a strong confident business woman who loves her figure and wants to show it off

Wonder when any of the male contestants will do the same?

GladAllOver · 14/12/2016 17:14

ALL TV programmes are scripted and edited to attract and keep the maximum number of viewers.
Unlike the adverts between them they are not judged for dishonesty or being misleading.
Anything that will keep the viewers, short only of indecency, will be encouraged and included.

wictional · 14/12/2016 17:15

she is a massive liability, crying in meetings, having panic attacks in front of clients
So apparently I shouldn't be in work either seeing as I have an anxiety disorder Hmm

wonder when any of the male contestants will do the same

When they want to??

Stop advocating anti-women sentiments ffs.

needsahalo · 14/12/2016 17:27

Frances is a former beauty queen so I dare say there are photos of her out there with next to nothing on anyway.

wasonthelist · 14/12/2016 17:31

I'm disgusted by anyone who goes on that show or even wants to.

GladAllOver · 14/12/2016 17:34

"she is a massive liability, crying in meetings, having panic attacks in front of clients
So apparently I shouldn't be in work either seeing as I have an anxiety disorder hmm"

But presumably you wouldn't volunteer to have the TV cameras recording you.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 14/12/2016 17:36

I must admit I rolled my eyes when I saw it, its depressingly predictable. Why is anyone who would prefer women to not present themselves as sex toys assumed to be bitter and jealous?

I'm not remotely jealous of them, I'm perfectly happy and content with who I am. I'd still rather the default position for women on tv to be something other than semi naked 🙄

pepperpot99 · 14/12/2016 17:38

when the chips are down get the boobs out eh? what a great message to our youth.

Quimby · 14/12/2016 17:48

I'm utterly disgusted

Any chance of a link so I can fully informed in my disgust

Ciaovenora · 14/12/2016 17:55

Um, how is posing in underwear a spoiler where does it mention they are not in the final?

annielouise · 14/12/2016 17:55

So predictable. Boring too. Not empowering. I despair of the women that do this. It's like we're going backwards. Just what we need in the world - more Z list celebs.

Sexy now has a formula - show as much skin as possible, arch your back, show off the shape of your vulva (from behind if possible), look doe-eyed, put your legs and feet into the pigeon-toed position, try and look sexy, sleepy but pure and innocent too, all at the same time.

Haven't watched the Apprentice this time round.

wasonthelist · 14/12/2016 18:14

The show is going down the reality tv trashy route for entertainments sake I think. Going? It's always been that.

Jellybean83 · 14/12/2016 18:19

The spoiler has now been deleted Ciaovenora.

creakyknees13 · 14/12/2016 19:43

So apparently I shouldn't be in work either seeing as I have an anxiety disorder hmm

I did actually think this was coming when I wrote it. No. I myself have depression and anxiety disorder. I manage it fairly well. I do not believe that Jessica has what I have (and what you have). The last thing I would want is to seek fame or agree to be filmed for 12 weeks. Her 'breakdowns' come at the most convenient moments. She IS a liability. I presume that you don't throw a loud tantrum in front of your colleagues or go off on an unplanned tangent when doing an important pitch to potential clients? If you do, then no, maybe you should not be in meetings. If we can no longer critique someone's inappropriate behaviour for fear of being accused of discrimination, then why have these programmes at all where people like Jessica are chosen for entertainment value?

whatsthecomingoverthehill · 15/12/2016 09:39

Anyone who thinks the Apprentice is a business show is a bit silly really.
