AIBU to mention this to my GP or will I look like a loon?

I have an appointment with my GP later on this morning for some other ongoing health issues. While I'm there would IBU to ask about another issue?

My period started 8 days after my last period ended. I am experiencing extremely heavy flow so much so I am completely flooding thick, heavy flow pads every 20-30 minutes. I have never had a flow this heavy, I have really bad lower back pain but not too bad on the stomach/cramping side of things. I feel okayish, if a bit tired. In general my periods are pretty consistent 25-28 day cycle, lasting 4-7 days and medium to light flow.

Would I look like a loon to mention this to my GP at my appointment today, I don't want tmy GP to think I'm nuts complaining about a period!

My feelings exactly.

humblesims · 15/12/2016 13:10

I still cant get my head around GP diagnosing stress as a cause of heavy bleeding. It seems bizarre. Hmm

IckleWicklePumperNickle · 15/12/2016 16:33

Our GP works the same way re appointments. DH was not happy he had to wait for our doctor to be back from holiday before he could get an appointment.

Let us know how you get on at A&E.

JenLindleyShitMom · 15/12/2016 16:48

Wow! I am disgusted with that GP quite honestly! How fucking lazy of him. Stress does not cause heavy mid cycle bleeding Hmm

Hope you got to A&E. this sounds very worrying.

expatinscotland · 15/12/2016 16:58

'If a person was bleeding that much from any other part of their anatomy it'd be an A&E job, no question. But because it is from our vaginas it is just seen as part of being a woman angry'

Yep. And stress can cause heavy bleeding. Geezus, with the way my life has gone, I should have bled to death long ago if stress causes heavy bleeding.

thatsnotmyusername · 15/12/2016 18:44

You okay op?

eyespydreams · 15/12/2016 19:41

Jesus I really wish women were not so conditioned to be all 'oh just little me, sitting here leaking my essential life blood away, mustn't grumble or make a fuss.' GO TO A&E. that other thread where the OP was going to wait overnight and nearly died freaked the shit out of me.

SparklyMagpie · 15/12/2016 20:27

Any update OP? I really hope you've been at A&E and they are looking after you

Chloe1984 · 15/12/2016 21:34

What's the other thread some are referring to, any links?

JorahsMissus · 16/12/2016 00:08

I'm gobsmacked that the GP actually told you it was due to stress! I'm also surprised that he was so lax about any investigation due to your previous health concerns. Are you on any long term medication for your PE? I was on Rivaroxaban after mine and had similar periods where I was soaking through pads within minutes and feeling so unwell every month when I had my periods.

DashboardLightParadise · 16/12/2016 07:51

Chloe, it was in classics but deleted for privacy reasons because it was picked up by the Mirror Angry Shame too as it was scarily informative and made me realise not to dither around if constantly bleeding heavily. The op was told she would not have made it if she had not of contacted ambulance when she did and instead went to bed. Caused by an infection afair.

I hope you're ok op.

Batteriesallgone · 16/12/2016 12:10
