To think that pretty soon Body Shop will pay me to buy their items

Grin

I've just had a code for 40% off, free delivery and a free gift worth £7 so basically got a £21 order for £5.40!

I'm not complaining, obviously, but you do wonder how they make any money.

The code is 19807 in case anyone is interested Grin

I haven't stepped inside their doors since they were bought by L'Oreal who engage in animal testing.

galaxygirl45 · 13/12/2016 23:21

I've found their offers great, I love the soap free shower gels but they've changed so many lines - the rainforest shampoo is awful in comparison to their original ones, and L'Oreal are known for animal testing so it's a bit of a contradiction that they bought a so called ethical trading company. I've also found Liz Earle has hugely changed since being bought by Avon - I've always loved Cleanse and Polish but now it's so perfumed it makes my skin react, likewise the moisturisers.

saucyxjack · 14/12/2016 00:40

Thank you for posting this. Have now ordered a gift for a friend, and a treat for me using that code.

ohlalalalalalalala · 14/12/2016 01:07

wow thanks xx

SpidersFromMars · 14/12/2016 02:20

Thank you - perfect stocking fillers. Plus rainforest hair butter for me!

sleepingkoala · 14/12/2016 02:43

Yeah some people pay full price. Also the reason they do those deals is obviously to get people hooked on their products and also last time I did an online order with a 50% off code or whatever it was I ended up spending about £50 after the reduction. So I ended up stocking up on all my toiletries/skincare stuff solely from them. And I liked most of it so I will probably order it again from them when the products run out. I will wait to use a discount but still. I'm sure they will make money from it.

IAmALeafOnTheWindWatchHowISoar · 14/12/2016 02:47

I'm another who haven't bought from them since L'Oreal ( whom Nestle have a stake in and who test on animals) bought them out.

Bogeyface · 14/12/2016 03:20

I boycott them too, I was so shocked when AR sold out to such an ethically unsound company.

The shop in town is always empty, they seem to have 2 members of staff on at a time and they always outnumber any customers I have seen in there, I really dont see them lasting much longer. Frankly, I am amazed our local shop wasnt closed 3 or 4 years ago.

Bogeyface · 14/12/2016 03:26

I should say that I boycott because of Nestle and the babymilk boycott.

www.babymilkaction.org/nestlefree#overview

It promotes forumla to women with unsafe water supplies, which kills more babies than HIV in Africa.

This photo is the one that did it for me. The babies are twins, the healthy baby is the boy who was breastfed, the girl is his twin who was bottle fed.

TRIGGER, this is a very upsetting picture but tells you all you need to know about why I refuse to buy Nestle products.

MaryTheCanary · 14/12/2016 04:32

I hate places that have all these complicated discounts. Like, just make all your products reasonably priced, please. I don't have time for all that crap.

Every BS I see looks empty--I hardly ever see anyone in there. Are the store showrooms to front a ton on online sales?

VintagePerfumista · 14/12/2016 09:42

Definitely the chamomile butter, it's amazing (face cleansing butter, not body butter obvs)

The oils of life range is very Emperor's New clothes. I have the oil, but it's nothing special for the £££s apart from the fact it smells nicer. If you want facial oils, buy from Naissance on Amazon. They don't smell as nice, but they are organic and do the same job.

VintagePerfumista · 14/12/2016 10:15

If you think the Body Shop give stuff away, you should try Yves Rocher!

I always fill dd's stocking with their stuff, they often have a "first thing in your basket is free whatever the cost" promotion going, when I buy a posh cream, then you just buy a couple of soaps to make up the basket.

WhoKnowsWhereTheT1meG0es · 14/12/2016 13:46

Yves Rocher have one of the most tenacious mailing systems I have ever encountered, last time I bought anything from them I was inundated with catalogues and mailshots for years afterwards. Some of their things are lovely though, I wish they still had shops in the UK.

VintagePerfumista · 14/12/2016 15:11

I agree, and yet, prompted by this thread and thinking I'll go and order a few bits for dd, I haven't had a bloody offer for months!

VintagePerfumista · 14/12/2016 15:13

Ha! But by signing in to my account, I am told I get a free gift worth £50 automatically!

Lovely jubbley. That's stroppy step-niece sorted. Who never even sends me a fecking card.

Celticlassie · 15/12/2016 11:31

Their website is bloody dreadful though. I've been trying to put an order in for ages and is hideously slow and keeps crashing.

ginghamstarfish · 15/12/2016 12:08

Body Shop is now like DFS and the other sofa shops, they have 'full price' on items, but nobody buys at that price as there's always a promotion. It fools the buyer into thinking something is a bargain. Even at the reduced prices BS stuff just about compares to any old supermarket shampoo, body wash etc, as it's now full of chemicals and a long long way from where they started.

Hygellig · 15/12/2016 12:45

I think I'll start ordering from them online rather than buying in the shop - it's expensive in the shop -£14 for body butter for example.

nancy75 · 15/12/2016 12:51

If you have a code saved on your phone you can use it in the shop - just tell them the code at the till and they do it.

flirtygirl · 15/12/2016 13:13

Thanks have made use of that code. Kept forgeting to check as only buy two bodyshop items but love them both.

Thanks to this thread also for nestle reminders.

TurquoiseDress · 15/12/2016 13:23

The Body shop reminds me of my school days- white musk spray!

SquinkiesRule · 15/12/2016 15:39

Ive given up. I made an order with the 50% code last week with Body shop. All came no problem, paid with paypal.
This time it says my address isn't eligible for this offer, I haven't moved, I even went into paypal to make sure nothing had been changed. Weird. Oh well, saved me the tenner I was going to spend to stock up on soaps.

Lilaclily · 16/12/2016 21:10

My candle and body butter arrived today, all for 6 quid !

NoFucksImAQueen · 17/12/2016 10:14

It won't take any money off the oils of life stuff and I can't see anything about a free gift?

SquinkiesRule · 17/12/2016 10:22

Free gift thing ended it was only for one day
