My DS is the same age and spends more time at his girlfriend's house than her coming here so when his gf and family moved house I picked up a little present and card for him to give her mum. Really just a token to let her know I appreciate her being so nice to my son. I think it was probably intended in this way.

I wouldn't have expected him to get me a present but I wouldn't feel uncomfortable if he did. I think it's very thoughtful and considerate actually.
