AIBU to think it's odd that DD's boyfriend got me a boyfriend?

Would you find it a bit uncomfortable?

They've been together for 8 months and are almost 16. It would be a bit different if they were older.

Yeah, maybe Grin maybe it's telling me I'm unhappy in my marriage.

No, I'm not getting him a Christmas present? I don't see him much

ageingrunner · 08/12/2016 10:47

Haha! It would annoy me a bit, but only because I try to give and receive as few presents as possible just because I like to keep things simple and stress free.

iklboo · 08/12/2016 10:47

His mum probably got it for him to give to you as a 'nice thing'.

ageingrunner · 08/12/2016 10:48

It's a nice thought though Smile

Jellyshoeshurtmyfeet · 08/12/2016 10:48

Does he spend a lot of time at your house? My DS is the same age and spends more time at his girlfriend's house than her coming here so when his gf and family moved house I picked up a little present and card for him to give her mum. Really just a token to let her know I appreciate her being so nice to my son. I think it was probably intended in this way.

I wouldn't have expected him to get me a present but I wouldn't feel uncomfortable if he did. I think it's very thoughtful and considerate actually.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 08/12/2016 10:52

Depends if it was a box of chocolates or a rabbit an expensive or very personal gift.

Pretty mean not to get him a small Christmas present.

PoldarksBreeches · 08/12/2016 10:54

You should get him a little present.

littlesallyracket · 08/12/2016 10:57

I don't think it's weird. Maybe it's just the done thing in his family or he just wanted to be nice, or maybe your DD suggested he get you something.

creakyknees13 · 08/12/2016 11:02

He sounds lovely and thoughtful. Why is it odd?

However, if he was fixing you up with a man, that would be odd....

HarryPottersMagicWand · 08/12/2016 11:05

Aw, I think thats a lovely thought. Especially when some teens are really selfish and thoughtless, it's nice to hear of the ones who do think about others. I'd probably get him a little something for Christmas, nothing ott.

ChewedUpRope · 08/12/2016 11:13

I think it's nice.

I do think it's weird that you would find it weird enough to start a thread about it.

baconandeggies · 08/12/2016 11:15

Are you suspicious of him Olivertree?

viques · 08/12/2016 11:18

That is so sweet, and who knows, if they are still together in 2017 maybe next year he WILL get you a boyfriend.

Is he just trying to get into your good books?

You're his girlfriend's mum. It's quite understandable.

what is it/

HeadElf · 08/12/2016 11:33

What's the gift?

olivertree · 08/12/2016 11:42

A LUSH gift set

OP posts:
LagunaBubbles · 08/12/2016 11:44

Are you Gail Platt?

Grin
ShowMeTheElf · 08/12/2016 11:48

If he bought you a birthday present then you do need to get him at least a token Christmas gift I think.

Ginkypig · 08/12/2016 11:52

Great title gaff op Grin

It quite a sweet thing to do or he thinks it is.

he's trying to be "adult" by buying his gf mother a present.
Showing he is aware that it is an important relationship by doing the adult thing. Showing respect for the mother of his partner.

No one would think it was weird if the be was 30, he's just a bit ahead of things really.

Saying that I wouldnt want presents from new people Iv no room as it is!

SapphireStrange · 08/12/2016 11:54

I think it's a nice thing to do.

I quite like Lush too.

YoHoHoandabottleofTequila · 08/12/2016 11:57

I think that's a lovely thing to do.

I prefer the title, I thought maybe he'd got you a boyfriend for Christmas a bit like a dog. Boyfriends aren't just for Christmas.
