So far in the last few weeks, we've had:

'Shouldn't be a nativity play, my dc with small part is bored'
'Should be a nativity play, pc world gone mad'

'Should be an evening performance for working parents'
'Shouldn't be an evening performance, dc too tired'

'Siblings should be allowed, I've got no one to watch them'
'Siblings shouldn't be allowed, too noisy'

' teachers should teach instead of all this paperwork'
' teachers should send letters out to all parents checking their availability for play, and rewrite play as necessary thereafter.'

Anyone got anything else to complain about, during this joyous time of year?

OP posts:

Mumzypopz- with your level of expertise are you training to be a teacher?

Mumzypopz · 12/12/2016 20:35

Namechangebitch

What a nasty thing to say....am totally entitled to my opinion, so if you haven't got anything decent to say, shove off

Mumzypopz · 12/12/2016 20:37

And Namechangebitch......presume you think it's ok for the same few kids to get the same parts over and over? For SIX years?

Namechangebitch · 12/12/2016 20:42

See when someone just says ' one little thing' it can really annoy you. I was making a perfectly reasonable point, you do seem very well informed.

Now wait until another 12 people phone in with snarky comments telling you how to do your job. Also, if you reply in a way that is in anyway assertive the parents phone the headteacher. You would be in big trouble.

See what fun teachers have.

Mumzypopz · 12/12/2016 20:54

But you weren't making a reasonable point about the subject matter at all..you were being nasty to me...if you read all my posts you will see that I have made well balanced points and feel sorry for the teachers having to put in so much time into plays etc....don't know what you mean about well informed? I'm not a teacher, and have no wish to be.I m guessing you think it's ok for the same kids to be picked for main parts every year then?

Mumzypopz · 12/12/2016 20:57

Perhaps that's why you have 12 people ringing in with snarky comments?

Mumzypopz · 12/12/2016 20:59

I would seriously though be interested to know if teachers think all parents who ring in are whining, being sarky etc....or do any teachers ever think any good of parents? Constantly get the impression teachers think parents are the lowest of the low?

jellyfrizz · 12/12/2016 21:10

Mumzypopz many, many teachers are parents themselves so it is unlikely that "teachers think parents are the lowest of the low".

Mumzypopz · 12/12/2016 21:16

Of course they are, it just seems to be that parents are often talked about in a derogatory tone on here by teachers. Just wondered if they ever thought any good of parents.

Namechangebitch · 12/12/2016 21:19

But Mumzy I said you you were an expert!

I don't know why you are so offended.

Mumzypopz · 12/12/2016 21:35

You weren't by any means being polite, you said "with your level of expertise are you training to be a teacher:" that's just sarky and rude... you were being nasty....perhaps it's because a) I'm a parent and B) I've got a point?!!!! So by suggesting it is unfair for the same kids again and again to get the main parts, I am open to be picked on?

Mumzypopz · 12/12/2016 21:39

Totally get that you may get several parents a day complaining to you, and I totally recognise that teachers do a good job etc., I wouldn't want to do it. But don't think it's right that when you make a valid point, people are rude to you.....RUDE, just RUDE.

Namechangebitch · 12/12/2016 21:46

The point I am making Mumzy is the comment could have been taken several ways. Like a lot of the points made on this thread. Like a lot of points made by parents, no one thinks they are being unreasonable.

However, you know I was being rude. Like teachers often know parents are being unreasonable. You can argue about the semantics but that is not really the point.

You reacted badly in a way teachers are not allowed to. I am suggesting if this was the last in a long line of irritating comments you might have been even more annoyed.

Life in a classroom is not as considered and as calm as life in an office. Teachers are not always able to juggle all the balls and somethings get dropped. A 'reasonable' comment may be the proverbial straw. In the way you reacted very strongly to my 'reasonable' comment.

Namechangebitch · 12/12/2016 21:52

Yes that's right - you make a valid point and people are rude.
It's annoying.
Yes it is.

Mumzypopz · 12/12/2016 21:53

Your comment was not reasonable, it was rude, you are back stepping.

Mumzypopz · 12/12/2016 21:54

Notice you haven't apologised, and still think you are in the right.

Namechangebitch · 12/12/2016 21:55

No - calling someone a cow is rude.
Saying someone has a 'level of expertise' is not rude, unless you want it to be.

Namechangebitch · 12/12/2016 21:57

Mumzy I am attempting to make a wider point.I am in no way back stepping, my comments stand.

However, having seen your reaction to this one comment perhaps you really should avoid teaching.

Unicornsarelovely · 12/12/2016 22:04

More schools could possibly win if they worked out at the start of term when the plays, concerts, award assemblies and looking through book days will be, told parents about them and then stick to them.

I'm glad my DCs school does nativity plays and I'll go and see it even if they're a non speaking sheep at the back. It makes life more difficult than it needs to be when the date is changed with 48 hours notice because they hadn't realised it clashed with a y6 assembly.

Mumzypopz · 12/12/2016 22:04

And you say I reacted "badly" and strongly" to your comment....that's because I was standing up for myself, you obviously don't like it. You were rude and it was uncalled for. I gave not reacted badly, I am calm and an debating in a calm manner. It is indeed human nature for people to get cross after a string of possible comments from parents, you are correct in saying this, but it would be wrong and unprofessional and unfair to take it out on the last person if their comment is reasonable. This sort of thing stops the quieter parents ringing in about something that may be important.

Mumzypopz · 12/12/2016 22:07

Namechangebitch....I have no desire to be a teacher, I am in a much better profession thanks. You clearly cannot discuss things in a pleasant manner.

Mumzypopz · 12/12/2016 22:09

Your comment was clearly sarcastic, there is no way you were trying to be nice.

BoneyBackJefferson · 12/12/2016 22:28

Mumzypopz

1200 pupils in the school.

I called them "whinging parents" because they are whinging parents. I have know idea why no other children stepped forward. I do know that other children were asked and they were offered the same as the girls that did the performing, including the lunch time and afterschool practices.

Its the same as when parents whinge that their children aren't picked for the team because they have never turned up for practice, and if they are picked they don't turn up and the team can't play.

In the end the main reason why the same pupils are picked are because they are the ones that do the work and can be relied upon to actually turn up.

Astro55 · 12/12/2016 23:08

30 boys in DC year - same 6 picked for footy

All but a few love footy - play with a passion and enjoy the game -

Same few picked for main parts in the plays

Same few chosen for class reps

Same few picked for prizes - every year

Good job we don't chose 5 promising kids for maths or literacy and only teach them

Glad DC now in high school where his talent is shining -

Mumzypopz · 13/12/2016 07:45

BonyBackJefferson

1200 kids in the school, so guessing 200 kids in a year and only three girls, who just happened to be teachers kids got the parts. Can you not see how bad that us? Good grief, no wonder you had a riot on your hands....are you saying that after those kids left, there was never anyone who "stepped up" to take parts. How do you know they were the only ones who practice, sounds to me like no one ever got a chance.
