Im sorry i just need advice, I know not an AIBU, but need the traffics. Only have DC at home, so if you can read thank you. So last night my wrist started to swell, i know nothing mager, but woken up today it was a bit hot couldn't really move it, throught the day its swollen move, it agony even on painkillers, and its quite hot. I realise i might need to get it checked but unless its really necessary i really don't want to, I am just (kind of) recovering from quite bad MH issues and for a good few months presented at A&E about 50 times for stitches, suicide attempts and some fairly odd SH and SA that involved surgery. So when ether i go with something truly physical to hospital/GP they often think ive done it myself. And it so feels they don't want to treat me and don't care. So it terrifies me especially as ive also sometimes been in A&E with the police and stuff. Its awful. Im trying to stay on the straight and narrow and stay strong for my amazing DCs. I guess its more being woried of medical professional but i also dont want to detriment my physical problems as well. Im at a loss.
Thanks for taking the time to read.

Another one concerned about cellulitis given the pics and how you've describde it.

Please do try to find the courage to go, you've already taken some great steps by asking for advice on here. Cellulitis is very nasty and needs to be treated as soon as possible. The thread I had on here about it was in chat so long gone but basically I had a horsefly bite that turned into cellulitis very fast. I was aware of it thanks to other threads on MN and got seen within 24 hours, even then it continued to get worse - I was on 3 different sets of oral antibiotics plus pain killers and anti-inflammatories and fucidin H cream. Within 4 days I was at the point where if there had been no improvement I'd have needed to be admitted for IV antibiotics, luckily everything kicked in just before I reached that stage but it still took a couple of weeks and then one final course to sort it out completely.

Be brave, going today will hopefully get you on the road to recovery very quickly but please do go as the complications can be quite serious.

Please don't leave it until tomorrow, sod's law will mean it gets worse tonight and you don't want to be dealing with kids/ hospital etc in the middle of the night.

It needs to be seen today.

RockNRollNerd · 06/12/2016 08:32

Begging - mine swelled massively - couldn't wear any shoes (t was a bite on my ankle) and hurt loads, I remember describing it to the doc as being like when I had a broken bone. Please don't try to talk yourself out of getting it seen today. Do you have a MH nurse you can call and explain the situation to, they may be able to help you access the help you need in a way that works for you?

yellowfrog · 06/12/2016 10:30

Hiya, how's it going - did you get an appointment?

Thinkingblonde · 06/12/2016 15:44

My wrist and forearm swelled last year, it wasn't red or hot. I went to see my doctor who sent me straight off to A&E as he was concerned it was a DVT. I thought you only got them in the legs or lungs! It wasn't a DVT however I was treated as if it was until my arm could be scanned. It turned out to be bursitis.

beggingbehind · 06/12/2016 16:55

So just been to GP. Who of course did mention the SH. But i was execting that. She didnt know what could causing it but has given me anti bs and drawed a line and said if i goes past that in the next 24 hrs or gets any more swollen or red imm to go straight to a&e of atleast phone 11. Thanks for helping guys

Well done you! You did great! Hopefully the antibiotics will fix it in no time at all

Imnotaslimjim · 06/12/2016 20:52

Well done for going, hopefully the antibiotics work quickly for you.

SabineUndine · 06/12/2016 20:56

I would definitely get it seen tomorrow, no point in suffering with it a moment long than you need to. And don't worry about them thinking it's something it's not - it will very likely be quite clear to someone who's seen this sort of swelling before what it is.

And look after yourself Flowers

MrsKCastle · 06/12/2016 21:07

Well done for getting it seen. Please do make sure you get it checked immediately if it gets worse, or if you start to feel unwell in yourself. I hope the antibiotics work, but don't take any chances.

beggingbehind · 07/12/2016 19:31

Well it's spread. I am once agin. Stumbled. Do I phone 111 or go to GP AGAIN tommrow or wait for anti bs to kick in more been on for two day temp of 38.2

MatildaTheCat · 07/12/2016 19:42

Yes, do as your GP advised. It may need IV antibiotics. Really, do get it checked tonight before you end up needing more treatment if you leave it any longer.

Arriettyborrower · 07/12/2016 19:55

Nurse Practitioner here, looks like cellulitis, you need to be seen asap and have IV antibiotics - especially as you are symptomatic (high temp).
Can you get to A&E?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/12/2016 19:55

Phone 111 and do what they say.

user1481140239 · 07/12/2016 19:57

Please go get it checked out. Could be bursitis which is fluid on the elbow and gets v painful if not treated. may need antibiotics. You need to be well to look after your DC too
You can always explain to the docs that you were worried about coming because of your SH past, and this is not linked, they will understand.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/12/2016 19:58

The OP already has anti biotics user therefore definitely needs to be seen.

LetBartletBeBartlet · 07/12/2016 20:02

You need to follow the GP's advice and call 111, who are most likely to advise A&E.

IMO you need to be seen by a medical professional asap.

beggingbehind · 07/12/2016 20:11

Cant go anywhere tonight, DC, (Although DH at home) i dont feel weel enough, very tired. Plus i hate when the hosptials have there night shifts, ill either call 11 in morning or try and get a GP appointment. Its a never ending circle and im sick of it.

OP posts:
MrsKCastle · 07/12/2016 20:49

No, OP you NEED to be seen. Don't make excuses, you say DH is there for the kids. Get in a taxi and go to A&E.

CurlsLDN · 07/12/2016 20:55

Op, call 111 now, as your dr instructed.
Yes they will likely want you to go to a&e - they know nothing of your medical history, but the symptoms you are presenting with right now (including your tiredness and not feeling well) would be a reason for anyone to be Seen in a&e.

This incident is completely unrelated to what went before, you know that, you've told us that, so try to step away from the past and deal with the here and now. look after yourself, starting now

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 07/12/2016 21:02

Please go to A & E. A couple of years ago I was ill (something completely different) but I didn't see a doctor and eventually ended up seriously ill. I understand your reasons for not going but this is for something completely different and you need treatment.

WiIdfire · 07/12/2016 21:03

You absolutely need to be seen tonight, please don't leave it. With a high temperature you could be developing sepsis, which can be very dangerous. Please see someone tonight.

TheBakeryQueen · 07/12/2016 21:09

Just do the sensible thing and go to a&e, none of your reasons for not wanting to go trump you being well enough to take care of your dcs. Go for them.
