This isn't really an AIBU but I wanted to put it here as most days a thread from mumsnet is making it onto the Daily Mail [sad face]... What you write on this site is not just for mumsnet consumption. Don't write anything that you wouldn't be willing to see as click bait for tabloid journalism.

WIBU to update this every week or so with the latest trawlings? Tedious I know but the advice on here is always to collect evidence to support your assertions.

BTW you don't need to actually read the mail to do this, just type mumsnet into their search bar. And its not just the mail. I might expand to include others depending on how long the baby naps for.

Here goes for the last week or so:

Are we all capable of cheating on our partners? Somebody has taken to a forum on Mumsnet to say that people who are absolutely certain that their other halves won't cheat are deluding themselves.

pipsqueak25 · 04/12/2016 19:21

personally i think there are a lot of readers on here but they are scared they will get flamed for admitting to it, i think that is called bullying.

WorraLiberty · 04/12/2016 19:36

pipsqueak from memory the excuses over the years have been...

My PILs read it and they were telling me about an article...

I picked it up in the hairdressers as there was a long queue.

I don't buy it, I just read it online for the celeb gossip (duh!)

I didn't mean to read it, but it popped up on my Facebook feed.

I tripped over a cat in the street and fell head first onto the pavement. As I lay there bleeding and waiting for the paramedics to arrive, I happened to notice my head had fallen into an open copy of the Daily Mail and I accidentally read it...

OK, I might have made the last one up Xmas Blush Xmas Grin

Either read it or don't, but I've never got the gnashing and wailing about it really.

WannaBe · 04/12/2016 19:36

There are a lot of readers. And let's be honest, even if you're just logging on to their website and typing mumsnet into their search bar to see what threads are being lifted, it's probably time you stepped away from the internet back out into the real world for a bit.

Spending time searching for mumsnet threads on the daily mail website really isn't healthy.

pipsqueak25 · 04/12/2016 19:44

worra you totally rock !! at last someone is speaking up, and telling the truth, come on, we don't want the thumb screws out for people to say they read it but there is no need to get bitchy about readers who do either,

Hassled · 04/12/2016 19:50

The really tragic thing is that meanwhile there is, you know, real news going on. Serious, awful news - the stuff people who read newspapers really should be learning about, the stuff that arguably journalists have a duty to inform their readership about - but instead it's kids finding mum's vibrators.

WannaBe · 04/12/2016 19:53

I don't read the DM, ever, but presumably as well as the threads lifted from various sources they do actually write news as well?

Parmaviolets13 · 04/12/2016 19:56

Yeah Limited, I applied for a job I wasn't qualified for but they really liked my application so offered that instead.
But you're right: lucky escape!

WorraLiberty · 04/12/2016 20:03

I've been saying it for years Pip Xmas Grin

I genuinely don't care who chooses to read what, as it's none of my business.

But I can't stand the hypocrisy and denial that goes on. If people choose to read it, that's up to them but at least own it.

I don't read newspapers (except my local rag) as I get most of my news from the BBC website, but if someone puts a DM link on here, I have no problem clicking it/not clicking it.

I just don't get the obsession Xmas Confused

StorminaBcup · 04/12/2016 20:10

I saw the monster leggings one on the facebook page of the designers of the leggings but I do like a bit of sidebarofshame every now and then. That doesn't count, does it? Wink

limitedperiodonly · 04/12/2016 20:23

You don't have to be qualified to be a journalist parmaviolets13. You have to have certain aptitude

originalmavis · 04/12/2016 21:35

In the olden days you actually had to be able to investigate your own stories and be able to string a few words together!

MyWineTime · 04/12/2016 22:38

What you write on this site is not just for mumsnet consumption
Are you seriously telling me that other people can see and copy what is written here? I thought it was just a private little club.

It never ceases to amaze me that people don't realise that this is the internet and it can be read by anyone, anywhere in the world.

iklboo · 04/12/2016 22:41

They need a thesaurus. 'Heated debate' is getting a bit passé.

PlanIsNoPlan · 04/12/2016 22:47

I'm more fed up with Mners having a greater concern for possible journo interest in the trivia and nonsense we discuss - like it's of some major importance, when it's often just trivia and nonsense. The threads that have accusatory posts declaring 'media' influence and interest in the mundane aspects of Ariadne's reading levels or how Kaylee's mum feels.

MrsDustyBusty · 04/12/2016 22:52

FURY as downmarket tabloid COPIES women's discussions to fill up empty space on an hourly basis

"They can't even do capital letters right", busty blonde mum DustyBusty complained, shamelessly flaunting her curves in clinging pyjamas.

limitedperiodonly · 04/12/2016 23:26

In the olden days you actually had to be able to investigate your own stories and be able to string a few words together!

How are they not doing that?

originalmavis · 05/12/2016 09:21

I don't think that mining Mumsnet is the height of investigative journalism is it?

A lot of the old press has just gone online and the demand for instant news means that info is pulled from social media in some instances.

I'm speaking from the point of view of journalism than uncovers dirty dealings and cover ups, taking on the courts and government, not which Z list celeb wore a bikini or what's happening Mumsnet.

OohhItsNotHoxton · 05/12/2016 09:33

Oh. I'm a DM headline Xmas Blush. I would never have known without this Fred. Thanks OP Flowers

WorraLiberty · 05/12/2016 09:37

Matthew Wright will be discussing the 'monster leggings' in a few minutes.

He's even got a pair there in the studio Xmas Grin

OohhItsNotHoxton · 05/12/2016 09:37

I need to know if all media use is frowned upon? We were on Dave Gorman last week. Is that also unacceptable?
Personally I was quite chuffed to see MN included. I love that show.

sleepy16 · 05/12/2016 10:01

And the trouser one is a talking point on the Wright show this morning.

MistressMerryWeather · 05/12/2016 10:02

Holy crap, I thought you were joking.

Monster leggings on The Wright Stuff. :o

MistressMerryWeather · 05/12/2016 10:04

Is that Right Said Fred?

Glorious man.

Oysterbabe · 05/12/2016 10:24

Ah I'm DM famous again. I need to remember this and be careful what I share on here!

LineyReborn · 05/12/2016 10:34

Heated debate
Turned to Mumsnet
Has taken to Mumsnet

It's just clichéd crap. All this heating and turning and taking is the best they can come up with to make drivel sound interesting.
