Our router has been affected by the outage virus. DH has dug the old one out so we only have intermittent internet.

We couldnt even get through to these idiots on the phone. ppl are being told to comment online. How the fuck can they when they have had no internet for 12 hours plus.

Customers arent even being given any idea how long this mess is going to take to sort.

To add insult to injury they are trying to charge customers for new routers because of this.

UTTER UTTER CUNTS!

Sorry posted to soon. Should have read 'cuntweasels who know fuck all about jack shit and are arseholes on a mission to ruin the internet and television for the whole world' what a bunch of twats...

HelenaDove · 04/12/2016 20:47

Apparently you can terminate without charge for poor service under the Consumer Protection Act.

If anyone tries to terminate and they try it on quote this at them.

"quote this at them."

Hmm, you're relatively new to this TalkTalk thing I think?

their levels of fuckwittery go way beyond anything you can cure by quoting facts or laws.

There should be a talktalk survivors group.

Mehfruittea · 04/12/2016 21:45

I'm a TalkTalk survivor...I wish I could talk about it but they offered me compensation if I kept quiet. Oops Confused

HelenaDove · 04/12/2016 22:42

Finally got through to these con artists on the phone. And they wanted us to go through all sorts of tests to prove our router wasnt working. They know damn well whats happened. He agreed that a new router was coming to us but "we must do these tests first" Then he asked if the router had been physically damaged by either me or DH.

Why the fuck are they pretending and stalling They know whats happened.

Bastards!

I managed to find a postal address for Talktalk customer (lack of) service online, so at least I can write to them (recorded delivery) to find out if I'm out of contract (I'm pretty sure I am). Then I'm buggering off somewhere with better customer service - or indeed anything that even vaguely approximates to customer service, because frankly Basil Fawlty would be a step up.

eyelevelgrill · 05/12/2016 17:26

Yes, writing an old-fashioned letter is a good way to break through the nonsense.

FlouncedBack · 05/12/2016 17:27

It's their cheap prices that keep me hostage - this despite being hacked by someone purporting to be from Taktalk the day after I'd reported a fault to their call centre - pure coincidence I'm sure. And despite the knob heads who call me from india and who somehow got hold of my ex directory number to tell me to pay them ££££ to fix a 'virus' on my computer. Jeesh, if I could have got my hands on the scamming toerags...

eyelevelgrill · 05/12/2016 17:33

It's only cheap if you value your own time at $0/hour.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 05/12/2016 18:28

M0stly don't assume that your contract being up means anything. Make sure you cancel direct debits too and then double check. Even if your contract is up, they know you're leaving, they have let you switch provider etc etc, they might still try to dd your account...

GiddyOnZackHunt · 05/12/2016 18:29

eye Yes. Even if they call you, you go into a queue Confused

SemiNormal · 05/12/2016 18:36

TalkTalk had advised users to reset their router but had not said to change its password (from link above) - Which would be fine if they hadn't messaged me a couple of days ago telling me do NOT switch off my router for ten days as they are doing some kind of work which will make my internet quicker .... but only if I don't switch my router off? Now I'm concerned this is a scam message telling me not to switch it off?

FFS!

They also tried to charge me for an engineer call out saying there was nothing wrong with my internet, yet they were aware that another engineer came to fix the fault two days later (which I wasn't charged for) - managed to get them to drop that charge after arguing for over an hour and then before I hung up they said the line is crackling and would I like an engineer to come 'round!!!

Matilda2013 · 05/12/2016 18:38

We had problems about this time last year with talktalk. Moved to sky broadband and we've been fine since! And they have better customer services !

Pineau · 05/12/2016 18:55

Talk Talk are shite. Gave two months notice to terminate, had been with them for years, as was moving , this was 18 months ago and they have only recently stopped sending me a monthly bill.

M0stlyHet · 05/12/2016 19:17

Thing is, if you've been with them a while, all your account details are on the dark web. I had scammers phone me pretending to be Talktalk saying there was a problem with my internet (back in the heady days when it worked) I said I'd phone the help desk direct - much to the scammers' consternation. Of course there was nothing wrong.

But yes, will cancel the dd.

HelenaDove · 05/12/2016 20:11

I wonder how many kids/teenagers couldnt complete their homework due to no internet access.

OP posts:
GiddyOnZackHunt · 05/12/2016 20:29

Ah no not random calls, sorry. This was me requesting they call me after spending 4 hours of my time on the phone trying to get them to do a simple task that they were obliged to do. I was promised customer services would phone me but essentially that meant them initiating the call that put me on hold for another 20 minutes.

bigTillyMint · 06/12/2016 05:20

Helena, there was one very angry teen here!

And we have had the scammer calls...

RedHelenB · 06/12/2016 07:39

Always fixed my problems, refunded money if they made an error and very helpful customer service, People moan about Sky, Virgin and BT too but they are also more expensive.

WetNovemberDay · 06/12/2016 07:46

I hate the fuckers too.
Thankfully we upped and left the useless lot of shifty scum.
There is a fb group called I hate Talk talk. Not been on it for years but you might get some info from others in the same situation there.
Good luck with this you'll need it as you're sadly finding out tt have no fucks to give their customers!

StrawberryShortcake32 · 06/12/2016 07:53

Wow...
We've just moved and hubby is looking at Talk Talk. I shall tell him to go with Virgin instead..
Thanks for the heads up!

Chipsandonionrings · 06/12/2016 07:54

I hate talk talk with a passion. They have buggered up our internet and phone line. They keep saying it will be a week to fix - that was 6 weeks ago. Its still supposed to be fixed this Fri - like hell will it.

Bt need to fix something before it works so not strictly speaking talk talks fault but their customer service is shocking. They don't call when they say they will, follow a script - I spent 2.5hrs on the phone and spoke to just about everyone in their office in the Philippines. Eventually I got thru to their Preston office who admitted that we had been given the wrong info. I have no faith they have raised the job with bt and hubby won't cancel until the line is fixed as he believed them when they said we will end up going to the back of the queue and being without internet for months.

Hubby can't do his online college course and I am having to buy extra expensive data so I can mumsnet!!! Utter shits.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 06/12/2016 08:02

Ah TalkTalk. Let me count the ways I hate you and left you

Giddy, I was going to express surprise that you managed to leave and then read the rest of your post. The main reason I won't switch to them is that everybody I know who's tried to leave them had the same issue as you.

They really are useless fuckers.
