To tell DP never to change bed sheets again?

He never puts on matching bedding and it's infuriating! At the moment, our pillows are circles but the quilt cover is floral lol.

I'm guilty of this... Blush
walks out again

I store our pillowcases inside the folds of the duvet cover for the same reason. My husband changes our bed and can just grab a bundle. I also store the sheets in the coded of the duvet cover too. Let him carry on doing it.

Tenshidarkangel · 02/12/2016 11:36

Walks back in
In fact, DP is better at matching the sheets than I am... Grin I grab anything.

Hellmouth · 02/12/2016 11:37

claire that's a great idea!

I guess I'm just a perfectionist :(

Mr Elbows is frequently chastised for failing to get the undersheet entirely straight and properly folded back over the duvet. I am wholly unreasonable when it comes the absolutely necessity which is a well presented, straight bed and he is safer not even trying!!

Ohb0llocks · 02/12/2016 11:40

The mismatched sheets will be fantastic to bury him in if he does this again.

NeedMoreSleepOrSugar · 02/12/2016 11:41

I fold the sheets, duvet cover and pillowcases into one of the pillowcases - full bed set, all matching, in one easy bundle.

Generally it's still me who changes the bedding though, but small steps...!

queenMab99 · 02/12/2016 11:42

Don't fall for it! It is a well known man trick, pretending to be hopeless at household tasks. Grin

badg3r · 02/12/2016 11:43

How do you know he's not doing it on purpose so you don't make him do it again...? Wink

MangoBiscuit · 02/12/2016 11:43

Here, the fitted sheet, 3 of 4 pillow cases, and the duvet cover all get folded to the same size, and put in the remaining pillow case. Then I store them in a box, on end, like they're filed (Kondo!). DH grabs a packet and it all matches. Although I reckon he'd notice if he managed to get a mis-match. Whether he'd care or not, I don't know. Grin

Hellmouth · 02/12/2016 11:45

Lol Ohb0llocks

I have to give him credit, he changes the bed sheets way more often than I do :)

MangoBiscuit · 02/12/2016 11:45

To be fair, DH usually does the matching and folding too, and he's not put a mix of sets on the beds yet. So he probably would care if they were wrong.

FlyingElbows · 02/12/2016 11:46

I can't get on board with that in the pillowcase thing. I'm on board with the kendo bu am odd about everything being folded and lined up nicely. Beautiful rows of perfectly folded pillowcases sheets and duvet covers. Yes, I am bonkers.

FlyingElbows · 02/12/2016 11:47

Kondo, even. Bloody phone.

P1nkP0ppy · 02/12/2016 11:54

Not odd Elbows, putting everything in a pillowcase gave me 😡 Because they didn't sit tidily in the airing cupboard. I much prefer neat piles of bed linen Marie Kondo has a lot to answer for in this house!

Budgiebonbon · 02/12/2016 11:57

It's not the matching that bothers me -it's the frequency with which DP would feel it needed doing!

user1467976192 · 02/12/2016 12:01

I do the same as Claire and hide the hideous orange bedding he bought

mumzuki · 02/12/2016 12:01

Depends whether you care enough to want to do it yourself, or whether you'll end up resenting the fact that you 'do everything'. DH does laundry, hangs it out much less efficiently than I would, but I don't give a shit because I don't have to do it.

SaagMasala · 02/12/2016 12:07

my DH appears to be colourblind. Last time I gave him free reign to change the duvet cover, he chose an old one in a terracotta/orange/brown design, which in its day was quite attractive. But not in a bedroom that's since been tastefully redecorated in lilac.

I asked what was he thinking of, and he told me he liked the design and couldn't understand why I never used that set anymore Confused

Olympiathequeen · 02/12/2016 12:09

I'd just be glad DP changed the bedding at all.

Fadingmemory · 02/12/2016 12:10

This is a frequent ploy - messing up a household task so that you won't have to do it again. Store each set inside a pillowcase as suggested. Surely he could manage that.

musicposy · 02/12/2016 12:13

DH does this. When questioned, he says a duvet cover is "functional" and the function is protecting the duvet. He does not get the point of matching stuff and coordinating colours as, whatever colour it is, it protects the duvet equally well.

I'd really like to live in his world sometimes!

WouldHave · 02/12/2016 12:17

If he changes the sheets more often than you do, I would leave him to it. But frankly I really don't care about having matching bedding, it doesn't affect how I sleep and my bedroom isn't a showroom.

Wex · 02/12/2016 12:23

The feel and smell of clean bedding is more important than the colour. Especially since it's dark when I go to bed.

Randonneur · 02/12/2016 12:26

My dh also doesn't give a toss about matching sheets - I can cope with this but what drives me batty is he puts all the clean stuff on top of the dirty stuff. WHHHHY?!?!?! When I asked him he claimed he didn't do it and it must be me?
