Baby fell off the bed - should I be worried?

So.... I go off to work this morning and leave my husband in our bed with the baby (I do her morning feed in bed with us before I go off to work). He sheepishly admits this evening that he 'might have fallen asleep' and was awoken to the sound of her hitting the floor!

The mattress is probably between 1 and 2 feet from the floor, and she fell onto carpet. He said she cried for 30 seconds and then was fine. Has been fine all day

There are no marks on her and I will keep an eye on her, of course

Just want to know that this has happened to other people and hear some reassuring stories that she will be fine!! Feel terrible even though I wasn't there. Gone out today and bought a bed guard - didn't realise she was as mobile as this, she wasn't even near the edge of the bed!

I was carrying mine in his Moses basket when he was weeks old and one of the handles slipped out my hand and he sort of fell out and rolled down the wall onto the floor. Poor wee sausage never made a sound either Sad

My second born fell off the sofa and the bed (twice) in one week.

Turns out I'm a really slow learner and she was much more mobile than I thought she was. She's fine Grin

My eldest fell off the settee at about 2 months old. I was feeding her and the meter reader knocked the door. I did the one thing I'd always sworn I wouldn't and left her on the settee while I opened the door... she proper screamed, and screamed, so I took her to my doctors (a lovely traditional family GP who'd known me since I was a child!). He had a look and asked me what had happened so I told him the story - in tears because she was still screaming.

Yes, it took him a few seconds to point out she just wanted the rest of the bloody bottle - I went to the waiting room, fed her, and within minutes she was her usual placid self. I felt so stupid but I'll never forget how lovely all the staff were with us both - the receptionist gave me a cuddle and rang my then DH to come and pick us up (I'd dashed down there while he was at work in a total panic!).

It's a rite of passage - my baby now has one of her own and another on the way... though I do always remind her never to leave babies on the settee Grin
