I am fair haired and have downy hair on my face which is getting worse, allergic to hair removal cream and unsure about waxing. Have visited a dermatologist for laser but told it doesn't work on fair hair! Has anyone bought a 'No No' device? Not sure how it works but adverts are very enticing. Grateful for any help....

coco mentioned the Philips lumea. Does anyone have one? I have pcos and all the fun facial hair that comes with it, wondered if the lumea was helpful in trying to manage it?

Tyrionsbitch · 27/11/2016 10:53

I've got a springy thing (think it was called a tweezy). Just to warn you - it hurts like a bitch the first time, but then after that it has been fine (just don't let hair grow back too long before redoing it otherwise it hurts again). Takes a little while to get the right technique but I love mine!

Tyrionsbitch · 27/11/2016 10:55

Also get some aloe vera gel as I came up in a red itchy rash the first couple of times using it but the aloe vera stopped that happening if I put it on straight after.

VilootShesCute · 27/11/2016 11:00

What wolper said.

Anonymous1112 · 27/11/2016 11:00

Tweezy stick thingy ordered Smile

TwoShades1 · 27/11/2016 11:09

Dermaplaning. Look it up on YouTube. Either get it done at a salon or do it yourself. I do it myself with an eyebrow razor and absolutely love the results! Some slight redness so I tend to do it at night and by morning my skin looks normal. Hair grows back exactly the same not darker, thicker or anything. I do it about every 3 weeks as that seems to work for me.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 27/11/2016 11:14

I've heard that NoNo doesn't work so effectively on blonde hair. Does anybody know if that's true? Something to do with the light picking up the hair?

ChickenVindaloo2 · 27/11/2016 11:18

Pluck the black chin bristles.
Shave the sideburns and use Boots Smooth Skin IPL on them.

ChickenVindaloo2 · 27/11/2016 11:19

I just got a big black hairy fucker out my chin by using my magnifying mirror next to the window. I had been waiting a couple of days for the nubbin to be long enough to get purchase on with my tweezers. (I had a thread about that irritating wait).

Scooby20 · 27/11/2016 12:35

norks I am getting one of those! Amazing thank you.

Scooby20 · 27/11/2016 12:39

Ordered the springy remover

ThoraGruntwhistle · 27/11/2016 13:19

I think the springy thing is called an epistick. Brilliant for the tache but makes your eyes water Grin

Isitadoubleentendre · 27/11/2016 13:24

I have the springy thing - works brilliantly but holy mother of FUCK it hurts!

SirChenjin · 27/11/2016 13:33

Braun facial epilator - brilliant thing. Hold you skin taut though - v v v v v important, otherwise it stings like hell. I use it every 1/2 weeks and takes about 5-10 mins

2kids2dogsnosense · 27/11/2016 13:44

You have to suffer to be beautiful - did your mother not tell you that? Grin

HappydaysArehere · 27/11/2016 14:25

I snip 'me off. I was told to do that by two different beauty therapists unless electrolysis is available. Told not to tweezer them as they will grow thicker!

P1nkP0ppy · 27/11/2016 14:44

Epilate the ladystache, bit ouchy but effective.

Oblomov16 · 27/11/2016 15:45

I've had electrolysis for years, but the fluff on my face is definitely getting worse.

ChickenVindaloo2 · 27/11/2016 16:48

I was told not to tweezer them as they will grow thicker!

Thicker than the "beauty therapists" (and others) who peddle those sorts of wives tales?

PandoraHadABox · 27/11/2016 16:56

Thanks to you all! Springy-thing sounds good. Wolpertinger I have long downy hair, really noticeable in daylight AND long chin whiskers! The lady I went to see about lasering told me to cut the long hairs, so I did today - have left my sideburns but moustache and chin prickly now!! Hope DH doesn't fancy a snog - with his stubble too we will stick together like velcro!! I will try springy-thing and hope not to end up with a chin like a cowboy! Oh, the joys of getting older and haven't even started the menopause yet....so much to look forward to, can hardly contain myselfGrin

It's a thing now to get your face shave with a cut throat razor at beauty salons, look up Lisa Eldridge, she's got a video review of it.

SimonLeBonOnAndOn · 27/11/2016 17:02

I use Tinkle eyebrow razors on mine.
Less than £2 for 3 on eBay

liz70 · 27/11/2016 17:06

I shave the wee shits off with a Tesco Satin 5 Blade. Takes seconds, is painless, and no issues with regrowth either.

Fockers · 27/11/2016 17:23

I shave. Can't bear the pain of the springy thing.
Spent so much on various devices just back to basics now

MulberryBush12 · 27/11/2016 17:25

I have very fair downy facial hair too. I now shave it and my neck too, every 10 days or so. I always use sensitive shaving gel and slather aloe Vera on afterwards.
I have tried waxing -very red and sore afterwards-3 days to calm down. Horrible !
Boots sensitive facial hair remover cream-same reaction as wax.
Facial epilator-Nu-Nu ? completely ineffective.
Tweezing in a magnifying mirror in strong sunlight is ok but very time-consuming. Shaving is the best solution for me -exfoliates & leaves my skin feeling nice too!
Eyebrows are threaded & shaped 6 weekly.
