Emotionally unstable pd is the icd term I think, while we can and do use either here the dsm still seems to hold most weight.
Op you should look into cptsd also as there's an argument that bpd & cptsd is the same (but not allways imo) and look into pda on the asd side of things, as it's closer to mirroring bpd (and therefore being misdiagnosed) than asd as a whole.
It isn't just childhood truama that's linked to bpd, but attachment disorders or negative attachment patterns, invalidating parenting (which would obviously be to the extreeme not just the odd word) and parenting mh problems (in how they effect the parent child relationship) And there's studies that show genetic links, and ofcourse any underlying nuerodevelopmental disorder like asd would leave a child at greater risk from lesser other factors iykwim.
My best friend has bpd, her mother has bipolar and certainly pd traits, her father has narsasstic traits and parenting was invalidating from him at times. They both love her hugely, but clearly struggled with her mother's breakdown during her early years along with family & society expectations of them as parents. But the fact they love her isn't in question, which I know they have at times found the bpd dx to imply. My friend was raped and bullied as a teen (and in part felt her father blamed her) and has had eating disorders, addiction problems and ptsd.
Her parents have learned and allways faught to get her help, and she has a much more stable happy life now afterv difficult times in the past. She is doing her degree now/has a stable relationship & she is my oldest and closest friend so it isn't all bad iykwim.
