www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3944882/Nutter-Fort-Primary-School-teacher-snatches-microphone-autistic-boy.html

It's a DM link sorry....this teacher in a US primary school....she SNATCHED the microphone from a little boy who has Autism right before he said his line.

:(

It's made me really sad...it seems that some people have not moved past the 1970s in attitudes and think squashing children emotionally is "ok"

Some comments have said "she thought the play was over" and that the child had other lines in the play.

SO??? His face is devastating! He was really distressed! I'm inexplicably angry over this...a child so far away and yet he could be any child who has Autism....it's not ok!

Supposedly Caleb and his parents showed up on the night of the play and demanded that he be able to participate despite not showing up for any rehearsals.

They've also tried to do this before with another teacher. On this occasion however they just went straight to social media.

I'm sure his parents don't have an agenda at all 🙄

AVirginLitTheCandle · 20/11/2016 00:22

All the information I've posted on this thread has come from other parents who have children at the school via Facebook.

Just so you know Smile

VoodooPeople · 20/11/2016 00:36

I think I'd believe a multitude of other parents over Caleb's narcissistic freak of a mother.

The witch hunt is reaching epic proportions and even when people speak out they are shut down. I can't look at the Facebook stuff now, it give me the rage Sad

As far as I can tell, this story has been shared in at least five countries, three continents. And all the journalists involved have appeared to do exactly zero actual investigative reporting.

Can't trust the press, can't trust social media. Let's make sure we teach our children some critical thinking skills because no one else will help them.

Gileswithachainsaw · 20/11/2016 09:42

There are over 8000 supporters of that dreadful petition Shock

8000 fucking sheep who can't think for themselves.

8000 people who don't even care about the facts before jumping on the bandwagon.

I hope they never fall victim to something similar...

petitpois55 · 20/11/2016 13:22

Giles it doesn't surprise me one bit. The demonising of this teacher is truely horrific. We're not immune to it in this country either. I've posted on another thread where the pitchforks are out for a nursery teacher simply doing her job.

AChristmasCactus · 20/11/2016 13:48

I'm so worried for the teacher. The things people have said about her are chilling. Loads of people are promising to harass/phone her tomorrow. Her phone number, address and email have been dug up and posted. One person delighted in posting "she tried to take down all her photos BUT SHE FORGOT THIS ONE!".

Lots of people are threatening physical violence.

I think the tide might begin to turn against the mother once the truth comes out. But surely then she'll be the one receiving abuse.

The internet hate mob is a terrifying beast.

Coolcarrie - People with disabilities are entitled to as far as is reasonably possible the same access to services as those without disabilities. This sometimes requires reasonable adjustment (or the cutting of some slack as you put it.).

NoSunNoMoon · 20/11/2016 15:48

Dreadful parents. I hope the teacher and the school sue the scum.

Don't know if it's been mentioned but I wonder how the parents of the other dc who heavily feature in the clip are feeling.

I'm not particularly precious over photos of my dc on the internet but I would feel uncomfortable with my dc's photo and school being splashed all over the World. This has come from the mother...wonder if anyone could bring a breach of privacy case against her (or whatever the proper term would be).

Have seen there is another thread on this. How would I be able to share the petition in support of Ms Linsey to that?

There is "reasonable adjustment" and there is letting them do whatever they want. One is fair, the other is not helping the child learn anything or develop coping skills in various situations.

AChristmasCactus · 20/11/2016 21:59

A reasonable adjustment was letting him wander about on stage and not stopping him from shouting into the mic the first few times. I'm sure an NT kid would have been told off.

There is a line for everyone, including kids with SN.
