To be annoyed that my GP doesn't want to give me the pill?

I realise he's just doing his job and I probably am BU but I just need to vent and hopefully get some advice.

I have taken the pill on and off over the past 11 years with no problems however my dad has suffered two blood clots over the past couple of years. Because of this the GP is now reluctant to prescribe me the pill as he feels it's too risky.

I'm annoyed but now I have no clue what my options are. I have just recently entered a new relationship and I don't want to rely on condoms alone. I had the implant a few years ago and hated it - mood swings, depression, heavy and painful periods, etc. So that's out.

So what does that leave? Mini pill, coil (no thanks!) or injection (which is what GP is pushing me to have). I've read up on the injection previously and it just sounds horrible.

Arrggh, I want my pill, damn it! Angry Sad

Hey avirgin got nothing to add to this but just wanted to pop in and say hurrar. I'm pleased to hear that your relationship with your BFF is going well still. Gives me the warm fuzzies Smile. Apologies for the interruption.... As you were Grin

INR will only show whether your body is trying to break down a blood clot at the moment, it doesnt indicate whether youre more likely to get one in the future.

My mum had a DVT so me and my 2 sisters had to be tested. Request this. Also I had the pill injection for 10yrs and didn't suffer any side effects.

SchoolDay hurrar indeed Smile

It's been nearly a month now since that night and I have no idea why we didn't do it sooner Grin

OP, you say you've just entered a new relationship. I take it you've both had an STI screening then, if you don't want to use condoms anymore? The Pill will only protect you from pregnancy.

AVirginLitTheCandle · 18/11/2016 21:45

I doubt either of us have STI's.

Prob not but that would be an idea to checked as some have no symptoms.

kali110 · 19/11/2016 08:39

Omg are you the poster who got with your best friend? That story was so sweet Grin

CallaLilli · 19/11/2016 09:01

Unless both of you live up to your username it's probably best to check!

So seems like things going well with the electrician😀😀! I had the coil fitted myself but I am in my 40's. My niece had the mini pill but she is in her 20's. She was pleased with it. I am very pleased with my coil as it stopped my really heavy period. But when the doctor was putting it up she said you can tell straight away who had a child before.I think she meant that things are must be a bit more looser down there. 😉😉
