Converse: should I size up?

That's it really. I'm a size 6 with average width feet. I'd like to wear thicker socks with them in the winter. Watcha say?

I'm a Clarkes ( and just about everywhere else ) size 4.5 but I wear size 4 converse. They start off snug but loosen up gradually.

mynachos · 09/11/2016 13:02

i wear my natural size 4 in the converse trainers and team them up with the little shoe liners. but go up to a size 5 in the chuck taylor boots so i can wear snuggly socks this time of year

FleurThomas · 09/11/2016 13:08

I had to size down because I have narrow feet.

BarbaraofSeville · 09/11/2016 13:09

Hard to say. I bought some recently and I got a pair of Chuck Taylor low tops and a pair of similar ones that were described as girly slim or some other nonsense - they are like the Chuck Taylor low tops but slightly less bulky and all black.

Both are in different sizes and for one of them, there was advice about sizing on the website, buy I went the other way. So the website said something like 'these fit small, order a bigger size' and I found they were massive and had to go down a size. Or it could have been the other way round.

Anyway I am a 7 and I have one pair in a 7 and one in a 6 or 8, I can't remember which. If you can find somewhere that does free returns, you're probably best ordering both sizes and trying them on, it's the only way unfortunately.

ByeByeLilSebastian · 09/11/2016 13:10

My size has always done the job for me

Allthebestnamesareused · 09/11/2016 13:10

My feet are so small I can wear the kids cheaper ones but do have to size up because they are narrower

BasicMadeira · 09/11/2016 13:50

I have perfectly normal feet but converse tend to give me sore feet if I wear them for a long day. I went to a podiatrist and happened to mention this and she said the box of converse is narrow so they do rub. I would urge half a size up especially in winter with heavy socks.

pointythings · 09/11/2016 13:52

Dd2 has 2 pairs and has stayed true to size in both - one pair of hi tops and one pair of boots.

TheCakes · 09/11/2016 13:52

I'm 5.5 so I bought 5s this summer. They rub my heels like mad.
Think I'm going to have to get a 6.

toastytoastbear · 09/11/2016 14:10

I'm a 4 and I wear a 4 and they fit perfectly

TheWernethWife · 09/11/2016 14:50

I'm a size 7 and wear size 7 converse, have 5 pairs so very happy with them.

HarleyQuinzel · 09/11/2016 14:53

They're always true to size for me

FunkinEll · 09/11/2016 14:56

I think they're true to size/ slightly on the big side especially length wise.

2legit2knit · 09/11/2016 14:59

I'm a 6.5 and wear a 6 in ordinary Chucks. They are bloody uncomfortable shoes though, hard and rough inside. And really, really cold.

BreatheDeep · 09/11/2016 15:07

They're too narrow for me. Length is fine. Had to get rid of mine as they were so uncomfortable. I do have slightly wider feet than average though. But if you want to wear thick socks I'd probably go up a size.

19lottie82 · 09/11/2016 16:27

I'm a 6 and wear a 6. Hope that helps!

Revealall · 09/11/2016 17:17

They are narrowish and the rubber toes mean there isn't much give in the toes. But even with my wide feet I still wear " my size".

CurlyMango · 09/11/2016 19:33

Do make sure it's uk sizes. Lots are USA sizes. As a 5.5/6 I am a USA 8 in converse.

Cocolepew · 09/11/2016 19:42

I always buy my size and can wear insoles in them.
I got these today 😍

Or you could buy shoes from a company that doesn't continue to sponsor a guy who went to prison for hanging and drowning dogs that wouldn't participate in his dog fighting ring.

Slowtrain2dawn · 09/11/2016 19:53

Found converse too narrow and always rub. Love Rocketdog though. I think converse are boring too so YABU :)

CurtainsforRonnie · 09/11/2016 19:58

True to size. Im a 6. Just have the laces a bit looser if you wear thick socks. The length still seems fine.

pennycarbonara · 10/11/2016 00:40

The Dunlop converse lookalikes are wider. And cheaper.
