No dogs in school playground. Is it ok to carry your dog in?

As long as they don't touch the ground?

Lots of parents with dogs at our school - mainly small ones - we are in a large city. It's right next to a busy road too so can't really leave them outside. Some used to tie them up in a corner of the playground but now the caretaker patrols that area to prevent it, so some parents are now carrying their small dogs in. I have not by the way, my routine doesn't necessitate taking my dog on the school run. Just seen a parent be asked by the deputy head not to carry her small breed dog in as the rule is "No Dogs" on school premises - but the reasoning for this has always been unhygienic in school playground. If dog doesn't touch ground then not unhygienic surely? So no harm done. Anyway thought I would put it to MN as it's something that I have idly wondered about over the school run years Smile

As much as I loathe the OP's stance that I am apparently an 'irresponsible parent' for not acquainting my DD with dogs, I am at least grateful to know that she's not the only one with a phobia of dogs.

There have never been any incidents (other than dogs off the leash bounding up to her, whilst the owner insists that they're friendly), she trembles at the mere sight of them and we have had to stop her from walking into the road to get away from dogs.

Plenty of people have phobias be it flying, spiders or clowns. Just because you love your dog doesn't mean everyone else should be subjected to it.

And by the way OP, no means no.

I wish people wouldn't describe people's fear of dogs as a phobia
I have never been shot by a gun, but I know they are dangerous and would be frightened at people shooting near me and nobody would describe that as a phobia!

My daughter is highly allergic to dogs. Maybe children in the school are allergic or fearful of dogs?

Surely most people will be in the cachement area so it's not really hard to nip home and take the dog after drop off/collection

Agreed no dogs should mean no dogs
