Never seen the original and this was on TV, it's overacted and bad but I actually enjoyed it being so bad it was good, although they must have spent loads of the budget on costumes Wink

I used to know the whole film by heart - at what age should children be introduced to it?

I watched it at 7yo but my parents were a bit slack in regard to age ratings 80s style benign neglect The DC know some of the songs, they range in age from 7yo to 2yo.

The remake was totally "meh", like a watered down version of what it should have been.

LouisvilleLlama · 08/11/2016 02:15

Seems like I need to watch the original! I started out with a Hmm when watching the remake at the start but by the end I Wasa mixture of HmmShockSmile

Remake - meh.

Original - fabulous!

PerspicaciaTick · 08/11/2016 03:12

Don't dream it...behe it

Mummyme1987 · 08/11/2016 03:19

I've never seen either. What have I missed? Dunno why it's just never been on tv when I've been watching. Heard of it but never seen it.

Mummyme1987 · 08/11/2016 03:21

Obviously if you all think it's great I'm going to have to find it on and watch it.

FixItUpChappie · 08/11/2016 04:25

I've always loved that 1st song Tim Curry does in the original....strangely compelling Grin

AprilLudgateDwyer · 08/11/2016 04:43

I refuse to watch it. laverne is a terrible choice for frank. Too feminine. The point of frank is that he is a man in women's clothing and Tim Curry!

Mummyme1987 · 08/11/2016 04:48

What is the plot? I'm a bit confused.

lizzieoak · 08/11/2016 05:55

The colours were really weird in that remake. The sets looked like they cost a fiver. The singers weren't great & the dancers were too good.

I really, really didn't like it. For me, - remake could have been done, but this one was meh.

Your life is not complete if you have never seen the film. And you will never look at Susan Sarandon the same way again.

As for Eddie, "That's a very tender subject. Another slice, anyone?"

OzzieFem · 08/11/2016 06:47

The original became a cult movie over here. People would dress up as the characters when going to see it more than once.

sashh · 08/11/2016 06:48

Anyone else just gone to you tube?

Lovewatchingrainfall · 08/11/2016 06:50

Love the original film. Me and my DH had the time warp as our first dance. It was amazing.

Not seen the remake tho.

WiddlinDiddlin · 08/11/2016 07:02

I haven't seen the remake and probably won't.

The original .. ohhhh Tim Curry.. Dribbles

Various casts have done a good job but my all time favourite non original, non-tim curry dribblefest one was..

Anthony Head..

Sorry i had to wander off and find the very wobbly grainy footage of him a Frank... I happen to know he still has those stilletto heeled boots ...

rubs thighs... where was i?... mm!

GloriousGoosebumps · 08/11/2016 07:32

I've not seen the original Rocky Horror Picture Show but I have seen The Rocky Horror Show Live with Davis Bedella as Frank N. Furter and he is fantastic in the role. I loved the audience participation. The Lavene Cox remake was certainly different and not what I expected but once you accepted that it wasn't going to be as good, it was quite enjoyable.

ThoraGruntwhistle · 08/11/2016 07:41

I haven't seen the remake yet but I suspect I will not like it. Love the film, seen the stage show several times and really enjoyed it, hated the ridiculous version they did on Glee where they had to change half the lyrics because they were too rude or un-PC or whatever. I'll give it a watch anyway, but the film is a classic.

Tarla · 08/11/2016 07:51

What is the plot? I'm a bit confused.

It's part parody, part homage to old b-movies. Richard O'Brien off the Crystal Maze wrote it. Dr Frank-n-furter is a mad scientist who has figured out the secret to creating life, Brad and Janet get a flat tyre and stumble upon his house on the night his creation (Rocky) is being brought to life. I can't explain it too much without doing a shoddy job and making it sound crap.

It's brilliant. Watch it.

DeviTheGaelet · 08/11/2016 07:54

The original is amazing!
I saw Jason Donovan as frank on stage and he was also awesome.
Cannot bring myself to watch the remake. I think it will be shit.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 08/11/2016 08:46

Love the original

Did anyone see the Cold Case (tv crime show) which was based round it

It was very good

Will i watch the remake??? I dont know

Tropezienne · 08/11/2016 09:35

I remember seeing it and going to a RH party in Berlin in 1990. It was actually a huge life changing period for me. Imagine the most sheltered, obedient Muslim girl you'd ever met in Berlin and suddenly exposed to all of that? It was the start of a huge change for me. I thought that was what the British were like and I wanted more.. So yes, sorry to digress but I absolutely love the original. It actually means a lot to me.

mylittlephoney · 08/11/2016 10:00

Theirs a remake? How dare they!

Willow2016 · 08/11/2016 10:06

Never seen the remake, the original is too awesome, the actors are perfect for their roles, its ott, great songs, great story, and just fabulous. Tim Curry is divine.

Mind you I do like Antony Head as Frankenfurter too have watched the American Anniversary show, ooh he can boss me around any day Smile

I will not go on youtube.....

Tarla · 08/11/2016 10:07

Devi I saw Jason Donovan too, he was a fantastic Frank Smile

GeminiRising · 08/11/2016 10:11

Love the film and have seen the stage show as well - it's brilliant, the audience participation is fabulous, if you get a chance to go see it live then take it!

Not even remotely interested in seeing the remake, they cannot possibly do it better than the original.
