The penguins made me cry but then again they are my fave animal.

Maudlinmaud · 07/11/2016 19:55

Grin baby that just added to my confusion.
Thankfully google provided me with the clip.

Jenijena · 07/11/2016 19:58

DS, 4, watched it, having been warned of the content. 'It's ok mummy, I love snakes'.

Traitor was more perturbed by the the 'How we filmed this' bit at the end than The Awful Killer Snakes.

HTF did they film that?

God, I've never been particularly scared by snakes before, but that was creepy and horrifying.

The baby lemur was about the cutest thing I've eve seen, on the other hand

bibbitybobbityyhat · 07/11/2016 20:02

Oh God, I'm glad I only saw part of a clip on facebook because I would be really upset about the penguins.

The nightmarish quality of all those snakes appearing out of nowhere has only been surpassed in my viewing experience by the caves in somewhere in South America where snakes hang in coils from the cave ceiling to capture the BATS!!! omfg.

The poor wee penguin with the broken leg! I missed the snakes - but saw a clip where they caught the wee iguana??

NotYoda · 07/11/2016 20:05

The Komodo Dragons fighting. Awesome

seven201 · 07/11/2016 20:07

I hid behind a cushion for most of it

Autumnchill · 07/11/2016 20:08

Those snakes scared the absolute shit out of me!

ShimmeringIce · 07/11/2016 20:12

I nearly started this thread but thought I'd be told to woman up!
I made it as far as the baby penguins who would starve if their dad didn't return... I'm pregnant, I can't take it Sad
Wish they'd make a U version with no blood, eating or suffering, just the stunning camera work!

wtffgs · 07/11/2016 20:12

Those snakes were almost mechanical, popping up rhythmically Shock I fast forwarded too Blush

Poor penguins Sad they are fab creatures.

Girlsinthegarden · 07/11/2016 20:14

That was absolutely horrific! The snakes can jump up the sodding rocks too. So just when you think the iguana will be safe it seems the snakes have installed a trampoline under the escape route.

Cocolepew · 07/11/2016 20:16

How did the baby iguanas now how go stand still so the snakes, wouldn't sense them? They were newborns. I laughed at the way the iguana was running then the snakes appeared and traumatised me 🐍🐍Sad

GloGirl · 07/11/2016 20:19

I haven't been able to watch any nature shows since pregnancy 4 years ago

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 07/11/2016 20:21

Both dh and I were utterly horrified and could hardly watch... expecting a nice gentle documentary, couldn't be more different! The way those snakes moved...

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 07/11/2016 20:21

And the slow dripping yolk...

Jetcatisback · 07/11/2016 20:23

Flippin 'eck Girls I had only just recovered from seeing the snakes, now I have horrors about snakes on trampolines Sad Shock

SingaSong12 · 07/11/2016 20:23

Agree it was horrible watching the snakes and the iguanas. Wonder what those snakes eat for the rest of the year as they only hatch once a year.

ParadiseCity · 07/11/2016 20:25

The snakes were FREAKY! But the poor bird on the broken egg really got to me.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 07/11/2016 20:25

I really can't watch nature programmes. There's always loads of horrible deaths and I am just soft contrary to Mumsnet reputation

Snakes can go a long time without a meal, AFAIK

I remember a shot of a big snake slowly eating a whole fawn on another of Atenborough's series - Life In Cold Blood. I think it kept it going for about 2 years.

dementedma · 07/11/2016 20:30

The snake scene was like the scene from Lord of the Rings where the orcs come pouring out of every crevice. Ds and I were yelling at the TV "Run! Run!", and " Your tail!! Mind your tail!!". Brilliant.

NotYoda · 07/11/2016 20:33

demented

Yes! I knew it reminded me of something

That and the velociraptors in Jurassic Park - if there had been dozens of the fuckers

Flumplet · 07/11/2016 20:34

You see this is why I can't watch these programmes. Nature is just mean!
