To ask those who have artificial Christmas Trees...why?

our last house was far too small, so couldn't fit a christmas tree in there. Having moved into a house large enough to house a christmas tree ,we are finally getting a christmas tree this year. Ive grown up with my grandparents and parents both having real trees, which I know and smell utterly magical and festive, but the thought that these beautiful trees have grown (for approx 8-10 years for a 8" tree!) only to be used and worshiped for a few weeks- then turfed out half dying onto the pavement forgotten about- is also so so depressing and sad to me. It sums up so much wrong with the world in general... I just cant bring myself to buy a "real"tree so will be going artificial. Why do other people go fake? Can you recommend the best, real looking artificial trees and where you bought them?

Because DP has unpredictable and inconsistent allergies, and sometimes reacts to pine-needles, sometimes not, but never to plastic!

And because I bought a cheap fake tree in B&Q about 15 years ago and it turned out to be lovely - perfectly shaped, pretty real-looking and easy to assemble, so no reason to replace it.

Also, I can't be arsed.

We always had a real one which we used to put in the bay window. we moved and although the house is bigger there is nowhere that will comfortably will take a bushy real tree.
I have a beauty I bought from B&Q but I have real trees outside growing in tubs that I cover in lights each year.
Best of both worlds!

For me, it's the start of Christmas to go out and choose our real tree then bring it home and decorate it. We have been getting a Nordmann tree since we started living together in 1988 so they are not a new thing and drop very few needles. There is something very special about coming downstairs in the morning and smelling that lovely Christmas tree smell! We have always had dogs and currently have three - never had one pee on the tree! We compost ours when we have finished with it.
