To shout out of my window at these twats? (With diagram)

Ok, now I've calmed down.

On my way to pick my daughter up from nursery. I'm driving slowly anyway around the corner obviously, maybe 10mph.

There's a blunt corner and as I come around the corner about 4 people just walk across it - thankfully I was going slowly and was able to break in time.

I shouted out of my window 'there's a crossing right there - use it!'.

I heard back 'You have to stop anyway you twat!'.

As I turned around the corner the lights were turning amber so yes, I would have had to stop but surely crossing the middle of the road on a corner is really dangerous?

The group of them were laughing and thought it was quite funny but im failing to see what is funny?

Diagram attached as I am not good at explaining!

TheHelmsley I used to ride a motorcycle in London - people (almost always besuited men) would look, make eye contact, then very deliberately step out in front of me (or other drivers/ riders, not only me personally).

It was grown men playing chicken.

I always thought that whilst it would have been me who went to jail if I ran them over, it would have been them who were dead...

Oh and another thing, on the same road on the way back a cyclist went through a red light! Knobs are definitely out in force today.

Awesome labelling!

YANBU

knobs are!

StrictlyPan · 02/11/2016 16:27

I ride a bike a lot and people you think are looking at you. They are looking through you. It isn't a calculation. They don't expect to be seeing a bike or a moped etc so don't.

The red light thing I'm meh about. So what.

Janice - well, you may be right BUT the pedestrian should also follow the Highway Code and has a responsibility to cross the road safely (and not be a knob):

First find a safe place to cross and where there is space to reach the pavement on the other side .... choose a place where you can see clearly in all directions

Not a facking blind corner!!

Antifrank · 02/11/2016 19:04

Very disappointed with the quality of the diagram. Please can you re-do it to a more professional standard

paxillin · 02/11/2016 19:05

Awaiting new diagram with the correct number of knobs.

limitedperiodonly · 02/11/2016 19:20

Why were you creeping along at 10mph? As a driver and a pedestrian that pisses me off. It's slow enough to hold following drivers up but fast enough to stop pedestrians being able to cross the road.

StrictlyPan · 02/11/2016 19:21

Agree! The MN Diagram Panel are prepared to accept a late amended submission. The original work has such potential.
We are looking at poss 9's or with colouring in a 10!

TheLegendOfBeans · 02/11/2016 19:24

"with diagram"

"well-known knob spot"

I love this x

Good job she wasn't going any faster today as she would have wiped the knobs out!

I think that would be entirely reasonable.

MissMogwi · 02/11/2016 19:29

Live the diagram OP. Cheered me up after a shit day at work! Grin

Run them over next time, it's the only way they'll learn.

What I like most about your post is the very clearly labelled knobs on your diagram Grin

They were stupid and should have used the crossing

limitedperiodonly · 02/11/2016 19:39

NavyandWhite The police were very good about it when I hit and seriously injured someone who'd crossed unwisely to the middle of the road and stepped back into my path.

No charges. It was her fault. It's a fallacy that it's always the driver's fault. There was hair and brain matter in my A frame.

Anyway, my verdict is that the knobs crossed at a stupid point and the OP was driving too slowly. Reasonably good diagram.

I offer no advice NavyandWhite. I just don't creep round bends at 10mph. Neither do I take them like Lewis Hamilton.

Chipsandfish · 02/11/2016 20:06

My road is exactly like that without the crossing. Theres a bus stop that drops the school kids off after school before the junction. I have to approach the bus stop and junction at a few miles an hour because at least one child will walk across the road without looking. They have no awareness at all. I'm terrified that one day someone will get knocked over. The road goes from 60 to 30 just before the bus stop so a lot of people are still going a considerable speed.

People can be twats.

Often people walk out in front of me, I'm amazed how many do it then look at you as if to say "what you going to do?!"

WaitrosePigeon · 02/11/2016 20:38

Why were you creeping along at 10mph?

Believe me, you have to on this corner. Most of the drivers in the town do, thank god. Well known knob spot!

OP posts:
limitedperiodonly · 02/11/2016 20:40

Certain bends have to be taken at that speed though just because of how sharp they are, plus you have no idea what is around the corner?

10mph? Really?
