I used to post all sorts on here, I currently need advice on a very sensitive subject but feel unable to post it in case it appears on Facebook. I've seen others posts appear on mumsnet Facebook on my news feed and feel that maybe the poster didn't want their private life publicised on facebook? I would hate that. AIBU?

Daily Mail, probably.

Don't be too confident about your threads being deleted for privacy....I was once outed on a thread and the cunts refused to take it down. They seemed to think I was having a fit about nothing. But I was identified.

ShebaShimmyShake · 30/10/2016 15:11

SeasonalVag, that's surprising. I couldn't count how many threads I've seen deleted, ostensibly for privacy reasons when the OP has made it clear they just don't like the responses.

My second ever post ended up as a Daily Fail story. I just found all the frothing-at-the-mouth angry comments funny though. My baby was born the following day so didn't spend a lot of time thinking about it anyway. I'd say if there's a chance you could be identified then don't post, otherwise what does it matter?

Rarotonga · 30/10/2016 15:21

You could use the Off the Beaten Track part of the forum...hopefully this wouldn't end up on FB or in the daily mail. It doesn't get a great deal of traffic though.

NerrSnerr · 30/10/2016 15:26

I don't see why a thread on OTBT wouldn't end up in the DM. You can't google it but it's openly available in on the site. I doubt MN would put it on FB though.

Antifrank · 30/10/2016 15:31

You are aware that this is a publically accessible forum and can be searched by Google?

If you don't want your private information in the public domain, then don't stick it on the internet.

SpookyPotato · 30/10/2016 15:34

I do think the more lighthearted threads only should be put on facebook.. this place provides so much support for some serious situations. In the meantime I would just change the details slightly!

WorraLiberty · 30/10/2016 15:58

Blimey SeasonalVag it's a bit harsh to call MNHQ cunts while continuing to use their website.

Namechanger9999 · 30/10/2016 16:04

Yes hopefully they will only put the lighthearted threads on Facebook as mumsnet is a great place to come to for support and it would be a shame for that to change or for posters to feel uncomfortable posting.

You should only ever put that on the internet that which you would be prepared to say to someone's face, on the basis they may already be reading it.

People who think MN is anonymous really are naive.
