Prosecco for me.

gingercat02 · 29/10/2016 17:45

We had Cava. I much prefer it to Prosecco but would have Champagne every time if money was no option

BewtySkoolDropowt · 29/10/2016 17:50

Cava is made using the same process as champagne, it's the nearest alternative. In fact I've known people to have Cava and think they are drinking champagne.

londonrach · 29/10/2016 17:50

Wine

Mrsemcgregor · 29/10/2016 17:53

Fuzzy wine and tell mum it is champagne!

ImperialBlether · 29/10/2016 17:55

Why don't you have some champagne at a different time, like the night before the wedding, or in the morning (if you could cope with that) - there's no need to give everyone champagne when there's perfectly good prosecco around!

SimonLeBonOnAndOn · 29/10/2016 17:57

Cava is better than prosecco, prosecco is sickly.

SimonLeBonOnAndOn · 29/10/2016 17:58

Sparkling Chardonnay if you can stretch to it

justdontevenfuckingstart · 29/10/2016 17:58

I got a prosseco from lidl last week and it was gorgeous. As a pp said champagne is only champagne if it has come from that region. Just get some fizzy. Nobody will care.

b0ne · 29/10/2016 18:05

Personally, I prefer cava, prosecco or even asti spumante to champagne. I find champagne too dry and yeasty.

TheImprobableGirl · 29/10/2016 18:08

Prosecco for me!

user1474627704 · 29/10/2016 18:09

Couldn't care less, all fizz is good, free fizz is better.

Get what you like, its your party.

Nospringflower · 29/10/2016 18:17

Well, if I had the choice I would always choose champagne but at a wedding I would provide prosecco/sparkling wine for cost. Loads of people don't even drink it so you probably end up wasting a lot anyway.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 29/10/2016 18:20

Sparkling, I dislike both so won't take more than a polite sip for the toasts, don't waste your money on me.

MitzyLeFrouf · 29/10/2016 18:23

Sheesh! Save yourself the £13 per head and go for the sparkling wine. Champagne can taste like crap too so there's certainly no guarantee it will taste £13 nicer!

I don't mind prosecco at all but do prefer cava.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 29/10/2016 18:24

Nice sparkling wine is fine (although prosecco is often a bit sweet for me - I'd prefer cava).

QuackDuckQuack · 29/10/2016 18:24

Get your mum a bottle of champagne and everyone else can have the alternative sparkling wine. I went to a wedding with champagne that ran out. Much better to have enough sparkling wine.

GrumpyOldBag · 29/10/2016 18:29

It totally depends which champagne, which sparkling wine, and what your budget is.

My top choice would be Veuve Clicquot champagne - but that's not cheap.

nam207 · 29/10/2016 18:36

We were lucky enough to try lots of different champagne and sparkling wines before our wedding. The two we liked best were the Louis Roederer champagne and a sparkling wine called pelorus vintage. I think you can get them both in majestic. We had some of both and everybody said they were really nice.

GinThief · 29/10/2016 18:52

Liking the idea of getting my mum a bottle of champagne, hopefully that will keep her quiet.

Thank you all Wine

What Grumpy said.

Can you try both to see what you like best?

Personally, I now always buy demi-sec champagne as I find the regular champagne too dry.

BuonoEstente · 29/10/2016 19:03

Go for the sparkling wine, I love a good cava/prosecco and a bottle of champagne is my pay day treat. However I have been at many weddings where I've been given the remainder of peoples toasts because a lot of people don't like fizzy wine wine of any type. It's wasted on most so keep it cheap.

TaterTots · 29/10/2016 19:06

I genuinely prefer Prosecco.

However, please be honest about what you're giving people. I hate it when people refer to any sparkling wine as 'champagne'.

LaChatte · 29/10/2016 19:21

Champagne is sparkling wine.

InformalRoman · 29/10/2016 19:24

Sparkling wine.

Although I'm probably a philistine because I can't tell the difference between £8 Prosecco and £120 Dom Perignon (long story).
