AIBU to think that whoever is advising Scarlett Moffatt is a deeply irresponsible individual?

Or number of individuals?

For anyone who doesn't know, SM is a member of one of the families who appear on the C4 tv series Gogglebox. She comes across as a nice enough young woman (I think she is mid 20s), quite witty and funny but not always terribly well informed.

Anyway, she seems to have morphed into a media wannabe. Probably inevitable if you appear on tv fairly often ... you start to think you are actually interesting. Steph & Dom and the awful vicar being other examples.

However, Scarlett put on some weight and got online abuse for it. So she's been on a diet and apparently lost 4 stone in 4 months. Yes, 4 MONTHS. And now someone's doing a diet/weightloss dvd starring Scarlett.

That rate of weight loss is never going to be a good thing! It sends out all the wrong messages Sad. I think whoever has wiggled their way into creating a career for Scarlett is a bit of a cunt.

Or aibu?

Not to be cynical, but her being talked about on here is evidence in itself of her publicist doing a good job. I'd never heard of her before this evening and voila!

VinWeedle · 26/10/2016 00:38

I think she looks like she spends A LOT of time in the gym- the amount of time that is probably not sustainable unless being a full time celeb is your job... I think she will put at least some of the weight back on. Maybe i'm wrong, but I don't yet see any evidence of her being an example of healthy or sustainable weight loss

WorraLiberty · 26/10/2016 00:38

Actually, re-reading the OP, it does come across as quite fucking nasty really.

"Quite witty and funny but not always terribly well informed"

"if you appear on tv fairly often ... you start to think you are actually interesting"

And to add to her 'crimes' she's managed to (arguably) lose 3lbs a week, therefore whoever is helping her to create her career is a bit of cunt??

I don't know what your own life/weight is like OP, but you don't come across as particularly happy in yourself, to be stating such negative opinions about such a harmless person and their (by all accounts) harmless weight loss.

VinWeedle · 26/10/2016 00:47

I don't think having negative opinions about someone who actively courts publicity means you must be an unhappy or insecure person. OPs post was a bit snarky but to imply that the OP must be expressing deap seated anger about her own weight is so.... predictable.

WorraLiberty · 26/10/2016 00:56

Then why is she giving so much head space to a stranger losing 3lbs a week?

Never in a million years would it cross my mind to think that

A) It was a deeply irresponsible

B) Her agent is a cunt.

And the fact that someone actively courts publicity, surely is neither here nor there to someone without personal issues?

I just don't get the OP's anger about this.

I don't hate her and I love Gogglebox. It's virtually the only programme I watch - that and First Dates. I really cant stick the vicar though.

I very much dislike the current celeb culture where talentless untrained individuals will do anything for their 5 minutes in the spotlight. 4 stone in 4 months is unsustainably fast and not advised by healthcare professionals unless there is some sort of urgency. Anyway, we'll see if it differs from all the similar dvds that end up in the charity shop after 6 months.

But the 4st on 4months must have been removed because it wasn't true?
It says in numerous articles 2 stone since April.

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 26/10/2016 09:12

'Can't stick the vicar'

How I laughed at that!! Where I used to live she was my local vicar! She's the loveliest of people....very caring and very involved. And with humour which was quite refreshing. What's your own sense of humour like op? You sound uptight and no fun

I agree with worra

You sound bitter

ohdearme1958 · 26/10/2016 09:27

On a previous thread a poster said she was a friend of one of her college lecturers who said Scarlett is very bright.

I think she seems lovely but I wish she wouldn't swear so much and refer to Tits when talking to her dad.

DeleteOrDecay · 26/10/2016 10:42

The 4 stone in 4 months thing was obviously bollocks hence why articles from The Sun and DM were removed, so why are you still banging on about it op?

EssentialHummus · 26/10/2016 10:57

I quite like the Vicar.

Me too!

Fair play to Scarlett. She's witty and has a certain charm, apparently wanted to be in the public eye / on telly and has achieved that. That whole family seems thoroughly normal and down to earth, to me.

Having said that, I still prefer the Malones and want a cuddle from Dave the Rottie. And a cake. That's my dream family. Grin
