AIBU?

AIBU to think that whoever is advising Scarlett Moffatt is a deeply irresponsible individual?

Or number of individuals?

For anyone who doesn't know, SM is a member of one of the families who appear on the C4 tv series Gogglebox. She comes across as a nice enough young woman (I think she is mid 20s), quite witty and funny but not always terribly well informed.

Anyway, she seems to have morphed into a media wannabe. Probably inevitable if you appear on tv fairly often ... you start to think you are actually interesting. Steph & Dom and the awful vicar being other examples.

However, Scarlett put on some weight and got online abuse for it. So she's been on a diet and apparently lost 4 stone in 4 months. Yes, 4 MONTHS. And now someone's doing a diet/weightloss dvd starring Scarlett.

That rate of weight loss is never going to be a good thing! It sends out all the wrong messages Sad. I think whoever has wiggled their way into creating a career for Scarlett is a bit of a cunt.

Or aibu?

Why the hate for her? She's pretty harmless.

I quite like the Vicar.

She looked more attractive when she was voluptuous.

Surely that's a matter of opinion. The main thing is that she is healthy and happy with how she looks.

I lost two stone in one month so I guess four stone in four months is doable! Didn't look as good as her though 😂

If you are not taking care of yourself at all with regard to diet and exercise and then you start both eating better and going to the gym then you are going to loose weight quickly.

She used to be a dancer I believe so was very fit but lapsed into bad habits. She's obviously been working out like mad and no doubt 'eating clean' 🙄 I think she looked lovely with a little more weight on her but as long as she's happy and healthy.

It's quite easy to manipulate this type of thing. Eat lots of carbs before your "diet" is supposed to start, to make yourself look bloated. Leak photos of you fatter during your diet so nobody quite knows what size you are. Send really unflattering photos compared to really flattering ones. There's a lot of money in it.

I don't think she'll have needed an advisor for this. It seems everyone does an amazing weight loss video during their five minutes of fame.

Still can't find that article OP..

No, I can't now either Fecking. There were two of them earlier today (Sun and Mail) headline 4 stone in 4 months. They've clearly been removed. Perhaps Scarlett or her "people" read Mumsnet?! Shock

More likely Scarlett's people do their job - i.e., media monitoring.

Sun and Mail

Well if the two trashiest pieces of shite ever printed said it... Hmm

However she did it and over however long she's done an amazing job (although I think she definitely needs to stop!)

Yes of course they are the two trashiest rags you could think of. Interesting that those articles seem to have vanished into thin air. They probably don't match the claims on the dvd. Still, I know what I saw.

I think she's great; a funny, smart little breath of fresh air!

She's lost weight and looks great for it. Find something important to worry about, OP. 🙄

Even if it did happen to be true

What on earth is wrong with losing just over 3lbs a week?? Confused

Why would you care what this girl weighs?

She's funny on goggle box and good on her.

What a nasty judgy spiteful post.

YABU.

I don't see an issue with her weight loss and think good on her for trying to be healthier. I've seen her weight loss on social media and it seems like she did a mix of diet an exercise, nothing wrong with that.

I thought she looked lovely before tbh! But I would love to know how she lost the weight.

Op - you do know Scarlett was on Beauty School Cop Out before Gogglebox. She was already a 'media wannabe' long before the weight loss.

Report
VinWeedle · 26/10/2016 00:20

However fast or slow she's lost the weight, she does look a bit too thin in some pics imo. Fair play to her if thats how she wants to look but I imagine it will be hard for her to maintain such a low weight.

Report
WorraLiberty · 26/10/2016 00:26

Personally I don't think she looks a bit too thin.

I think it's a classic example of when we're used to seeing someone carrying a lot of extra weight, the 'sudden' loss can make it look extreme.

Whereas if you'd never seen her before in your life and you passed her in the street, you'd probably never think she looked 'a bit too thin' IYSWIM?

She just looks like most non overweight women her age to me.
