AIBU?

There is nothing wrong with the term 'hubby'.

There just isn't.
This MN trend of sneering at posters for using a common term that has been deemed unfashionable...but only on mumsnet...is boring, childish and bloody rude.
If you had a go at someone for using it in rl you'd look like a dick.

AIBU?

If you say so.
Carry on being horrible to people over something completely harmless if you prefer.

YABU it is my least favourite word ever! Agree with poster who said that it was very George and Mildred!

Its not harmless, but I wouldn't mention it, I just inwardly cringe and kind of write off the entire post, but I don't say that.
I'm annoyed at you telling people they aren't allowed to comment on it though.

I wouldn't actually oull someone up on it, but that's largely because as soon as I see the horrible word in the OP I click out of the page and back to Active Conversations. It sets my teeth on edge.

I think it is revolting personally, but I've never put anybody down for using it. I do have to clench my teeth rather though. Laydeez, bubz, lil prince/princess/man/lady, hun or hunz and babes do the same.

It's just a word, if someone chooses to use it that's up to them.

The 'I can't believe you used Hubby ' brigade are being arses if they choose to pull someone up on it..

What a confusing thread, what do people call their DH then? 'Husband.' That's very formal. I think you'd all hate us cos when we're not using 'babe' it's hubby and missus. Never had a problem IRL!

I get that nobody has the right to tell people how to speak/write. The grammar and language police, yes, are a bit annoying. That being said - the words hubby, little man, bubba, Hun, and holibobs really irritate the hell out of me. Why that is I really don't know, but yeah I'm probably guilty being snooty about people using them. Sorry!

user did you just say 'hubby' isn't harmless? OK then 😂

There are lots of things I see on here that make me wince.

'Hubby' is one of them.

I don't comment as it's not really my place, and it probably wouldn't stop me reading the rest of the post.

I think most of us have words/phrases that set our teeth on edge, don't we?

It contributes to the endless dumbing down of language, of society. It's toddler language used by adults. Talk like adults, for fucks sake! It's bad for all of us to encourage this wankery.

Oh wow, almost forgot to say WIFEY! Also annoys me. For some reason I get extra annoyed when people use hubby and wifey if they're not married. A sort of annoyance bonus point.

user - don't be silly. It's an affectionate colloquialism and that's all.

I disagree. And if you'd stop presenting your opinions as fact I'd appreciate that, its also what young children do. Thanks.
