..if I don't clean up after my dog when it poos on the pavement?

I think I would be if I had a dog
I have just been for morning round of school run, shops, random wander and the pushchair has been through some dog crap. I try to watch for the stuff and avoid it but when you are watching to see if you can cross the road, dodge the teenagers and stop the baby crying it isn't always possible.
I have to clean it before it comes into the house.
TO make matters worse when I knelt down to put some shopping in the pushchair basket I didn't notice the stuff on the wheels and it got on my jeans too! And my washing machine is on it's way out so I am trying not to do too much before the replacement arrives.
Arrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhh

I was ranting about this subject myself this morning.
Kids got it on their football and shoes then I find it on the stone-clad wall beside my front door. Spent ages with a toothbrush trying to scrub the bloody stuff off.
Then you have to dodge it all the way to school Aaaagggghhhh

StrawberrySnowflakes · 09/02/2007 13:21

i had 3 mindees with me today on school run, one of which had just threw up all over playroom, managed to get to school for dd, got back home, safe and sound.??NO, but dollop of dog crap all over wheel..and it was in house when i noticed

Furball · 09/02/2007 13:23

Saffy - was it dh's toothbrush?

PeachyClair · 09/02/2007 13:24

its lovely in the snow today

then every hundred or so yards you see where some poor soul has stepped in poo and skidded

lovely- and dangerous (slippery)

saffy202 · 09/02/2007 13:28

No it wasn't dh's toothbrush but that was the first thing he asked when I told him

jenwa · 09/02/2007 13:32

I always take scented nappy sacks with me (get from pound shop and get 300 in box!) there was only one time when we never picked it up and that was when we went camping and some girl thought she was kind feeding my dog pork even though I'd said no, well pork does not agee with my dog and my husband walked her in the morning and came back to tell me it was like brown wee!!!! (YUK!) what do you do then when its luiquid!!! He looked surprised when I asked him if he had picked it up!

jenwa · 09/02/2007 13:33

sorry meant 'liquid'

Countingthegreyhairs · 09/02/2007 13:33

I'm with you InterGalactic. I live in Belgium and I wish more people felt the same way. The pavements here are disgusting.

timefortea · 09/02/2007 13:37

This is a pet hate of mine too (i'm a dog owner) and i always point it out, hand out a bag if some-ones going to leave it. As for environmental impact of millions of nappy bags boots sell'nature' ones which are 70% bio-dregadeable...every little helps!

justbeme · 09/02/2007 14:03

I too am a dog owner and I always clear up his mess - (black doggie bags from pound land) - What also gets me is that on a walk , my dog as does every dog , sniffs and LOVES to find piles of other dogs poo - so after EVERY walk, I wash his face and feet 'cos the thought of him licking me etc is so gross!!!

shonaspurtle · 09/02/2007 14:24

My next door neighbour got grassed up to the council (not by me because I'm too much of a wimp and she's a bit hard [blush) because she was just putting her dog out the door at night and letting it crap in the back court.

We live on the third floor of a tenement flat so if the downstairs back door was shut (a rare enough occurrence mind you) it would wee and poo actually in the close.

She was fined and told that she would have to get rid of the dog or jeopardise her tenancy if it happened again (oh, please God!).

This woman is revolting though. When her ds was still in nappies her rubbish bag burst on the way down the stairs and a nappy fell out. She did pick it up but didn't bother to clean up the poo that leaked out.

Her flat however is immaculate. I am beyond loathing her.

Totally unreasonable fgs! If you can't be bothered to clear it up at least get your dog to do it in the gutter. I for one am sick of having to negotiate (myself, ds and buggy) around dog sh*te on pavements!

tinkerbellie · 09/02/2007 14:37

the councilcould make little pens at the end of each street ...like designated poo areas and then someone with a shovel could collect it at the end of each week

tinkerbellie · 09/02/2007 14:37

they could call it poo corner!!!

JillybeansNW · 09/02/2007 14:40

If Cod was replying to the thread title rather than the actual OP then I think that she actually agreed with me !!

Drives me mad... We have a dog and would never leave his poo for someone else to find...

TheDullWitch · 09/02/2007 17:45

I have never seen a dog owner tell another dog owner to clean up a mess. There seems to be an pact among doggie types. The scoopers, don't tell off the poopers. I jog around the park most mornings and am always telling dog owners that their disgusting mutts have crapped in the middle of the football pitch. "Oh, I didn't see." Yeah, I bet.

The ones that have "forgotten" to take a bag are the worst.

I wish all dog owners would advertise their scooper credentials by having a sainsbury bag dangling from their dog walking coat pocket. Then I wouldn't glare at them suspiciously.

expatinscotland · 09/02/2007 17:48

I think ANYONE who lets their dog foul the pavement should get a £200 fine on the spot.

nikkie · 09/02/2007 20:20

The worst patches near us are right outside the school gates,Teachers are always having to swill it away.

Fattytwoshoes · 09/02/2007 20:22

I count about 10 poo's on the way to school. it's really annoying i used to have a dog and i always picked up after it, unless i couldn't because she had upset tummy but i'd try and wash it away with bottled water if i had some. makes my blood boil.

mummymic · 09/02/2007 20:29

i am a dof owner who cleans up after themselves and i challenge other people - i stopped a young lad last week (rather rough looking in a rather dodgy area of town....but he had a yorkie??!!) and gave him a bag and watched him pick it up..i think he really wanted to hit me!!
i am so good that i once walked my mums dog round the block, and had forgotten poo bags, he pooed, i took him home and went back in the car to pick up the poo - im soooo glad noone was watching

3andnomore · 09/02/2007 20:39

OH, I hate dog poo on the footpaths etc...I am a dog owner, but that doesn't mean I like to step into it, thank you very much...not into my own dogs poo and not into anyone elses.
Definately a major prob here, though Disgusting

bewilderbeast · 09/02/2007 21:02

I have jsut written to the council complaining about this it's disgusting. I walked out of the front door this morning and within 5 minutes the pram wheels, pram bags and my jeans and shoes were covered in dog poo. If people want to have dogs they should take responsibility for cleaning up after them and the council should provide more dog poo bins so they can.
