There should be a better standard of baking. So much bad pastry!

I am gutted about Selasi. :(

I started wondering about the time issue at the start. I agree that it detracts from the quality of the bakes and my enjoyment of the show.

It's all about the contestants entertainment value. I never believe anything I read or see I the media,

I said this to my DH tonight. But I do think a lot of it is to do with them not being given enough time. Silly and annoying. I won't be watching when it goes to Channel 4.

Sorry to jump in after so much conversation but I too feel the fondant fancies were totally unfair, why didn't they allow them to make the sponges the day before like in previous series challenges and then decorate the next day?

(Goodness, I rarely venture in to AIBU because of all the scary people that inhabit here....but eighty odd posts and not a single YABU.....come on admit it, you're secretly nice in here, aren't you? )

I watched nadiahs show but there's no way i Could watch candice for an hour on her own she is boring and pouty!

Saying that I can't imagine the other two having their own show either!

This season has been dull and the standard very poor. Shame about Selassi but he did have to go tonight. That Candace is the favourite but her pout is really annoying. Won't watch it on channel 4 either.

There isn't really anyone with amazing, mad, bonkers talent is there? You know how there's usually one contestant who is just on another plane and you think 'I could never think of doing that!'. They are nice people, but nor genius bakers.

I thought I'd get at least one YABU for saying you're nice in here - you lot are slipping, ha ha.

Anyway, back to the baking. What do you reckon they're going to get them to cook in the final?

I really hope it's something impressive, I want to see an actual showstopper not a French fancy or a bloody mini mousse. I want a giant cake or something. Something that can actually stop a show!

I agree with pp, think seriously about having a baby at all, and certainly whilst you are feeling as uncertain as you do. I had hoped for a relatively private birth, but things didn't go to plan, so I delivered ds1 with about 20 people in the room. Ds 2 however popped out with just me, dh and the midwife.
If you really can afford to pay for privacy, maybe have a look at private options? Portland in London looks lovely?

I've gone off this series too..none of the bakers really seem any good. Maybe it is a timing thing? But I also think they are generally worse as they quite often over or underbake even a basic cake, normally the bakers are rubbish at pastry or bread but I expect them to be able to bake a decent cake.

Candice is pretty poor tbh and the judges favour her so much! They phrase all their criticisms really politely to her, a bit like she's a precious toddler and Paul always nominates her for star baker even if there's been loads of negatives about her bakes. She has done the odd impressive show stopper but other than that there's bot much. And selasi had hardly had a good bake all series yet he made it to the quarters.
I want Andrew to win, he seems the most consistent even if he does mess up.

Yes this series hasn't kept my attention either. Plus I can't take to Candice and I feel like she's going to win. Jane is better.
