To buy an old Silvercross Heritage pram?

Yes, I know they are totally impractical and not at all suited to modern life. I wouldn't be relying on it for everyday use and realise I'm going to need something else more suitable too.

Yet I've dreamed of having one ever since I was a little girl. I have the money saved. It has taken a very long time to get pregnant and this would feel like such a wonderful celebratory gift to myself.

DH, having long known of my dream, is saying now that the time has at last come, 'Oh but you don't really want one do you?!!'

This was the silvercross my husband was in when he came along In 1970. We recently had a baby so it came down from the attic but we wouldn't even get it in the door of our tiny terrace. We were thinking of selling but the talk of amazing naps has piqued my interest 😯

Anyone thinking of using an old pram that has been in storage for a long time please check the lining. You will have to have it redone even if it looks intact. There will be all sorts underneath the thick leather lining.

Check out prams with pizazz on Facebook for more information. She restores old prams to a high standard and while they may not be everyone's taste she knows her stuff

My aunt had a beautiful Kensington for my dd but I was too young and lacking in taste to appreciate it so used my denim mamas and papas travel system Blush

My parents bought one for my nephews who are now 28, 26 and 23 and then it came to me for DS who is 21 years old

They are amazing to push, in the woods, park, shopping and even in the house or garden for daytime naps

Our coach built comes apart - base and wheel frame so fits in the boot of our XC90

We have got 2 sets of wheels, one for muddy parks or woods and the other for the house or shopping trips

The sunshade and toddler seat are amazing, although I see that won't be needed, also the huge shopping tray

It is now in our loft waiting for the great grandchildren to be born

Really loved ours so would recommend getting one

I love these.

A lovely family-run child care centre by us has an infant program and in the summer they put the babies outside to nap in a long row of them. They're beautifully maintained.

I did the compromise and got a sleepover. If you've got the money, get the real deal.

I've got my Marmet too from the 70s. Same stories of being stopped, comfy babies, toddler on a seat on the top and great naps! I don't even have an alternative mode of transport. Just a mei tai and the marmet. I love it so much. I hope to keep it for my son or daughter to use.

Came back to add that if you get the pram, you need one of these
