So I'm having a lovely time on maternity leave. DS is chilled and naps during the day. ( sometimes with much effort ).

DH has increased his expectation since I've been at home. I think it's my fault I've made it look easy.
He's been provided with a cooked meal everynight, all housework done.

His requests are starting to grate on me. Can I make pies from scratch, frequent roast dinner, baked goods, elaborate puddings. After all 'what do I do all day' drink tea and watch Jeremy Kyle
Tonight he asked me if I could provide something to dip his ketchup in like a pot.
Have I missed a trick? Are we meant to look like we can't cope so I don't get this shit.

Next thing is since when is everything 'my job' I've never seen a new mum job description and have never agreed to my 'jobs' which seems to be everything - except 'bring home the money'

i would have tediously explained that most people put their kitchup at te side of their plate, but, if he were to look in the cupboard with his own eyes, he might find a suitable small bowl, ramekin, egg cup, or maybe a great big bowl of STFU.

My comment was 'normal people just use a bowl for dipping'

That was my face when DH asked for something to dip sauce in.

Think I would ease up on the cooked meals and all housework done as you're creating a rod for your own back.

Maternity leave is for you to recover from the birth and learn how to look after the newest member of your family, not to become a slave to housework!

That was my ex husbands attitude too. It's why he's now an ex!

Oh I was looking forward to the picture! And when the first line of ur post said mat leave I thought you must be quite unfortunate to look like Delia smith when you are still child bearing age.

He's trying it on...pushing to see how many unreasonable demands he can get away with. Dealing with him will give you excellent practice for dealing with the demands of toddler (although he will be left looking distinctly amateurish).

You need to work on the "raised eyebrow" icy glare and your ability to completely ignore him.

Next time he starts talking about pies made from scratch and elaborate puddings, agree with him, "Yes dh, sounds delicious, I'll look forward to you making it for us at the weekend!" And present him with a Delia cook book.

To hell with that. - I would laugh in his face and he would be getting beans on toast every day for the rest of the week and lucky to get that.

I have upped my game a little with weaning so more homemade stuff but at least I can shove DS a dry rice cake for lunch and he'd be happy.
