to put this in DD's lunchbox

DD went to Pizza Hut with her Dad last night and came home with a slice of pizza in a box to put in her lunchbox today.

I forgot to put the box in the fridge last night, so it was out on the kitchen table all night.

WIBU to put that slice of pizza in DD's lunchbox for her lunch today - she was really looking forward to, but I don't know if it would make her ill and whether it's risky.

Thanks

Cold pizza would definitely have been preferable to the bloody Dairylea sandwiches I had in my lunchbox.

Can't see a problem with this. It's not the height of summer or anything and it'll have sat around for less than 24 hours before she eats it. It's only in the last couple of generations that it's been standard for everyone to own a fridge - obviously we can keep things fresher for longer this way, but room temp for a while is not a disaster for most things unless they're sitting in roasting hot sunshine.

I have neither a dainty constitution nor am I the hygiene police Hmm but I do get cold, so my heating is on full blast and I also have a low immune system. Even if I didn't have a low immune system, I'd not eat pizza that had been in my very warm kitchen.

Gerbilatemycardigan I know what you mean! Sometimes I got sent in laughing cow sandwiches- I always knew and refused to eat them! Once or twice I got cold chicken nuggets- shock horror!

And every day in year 8 I had cold pizza for lunch...my favourites were the cheap Iceland ones!! I was a skinny little size 8 13 year old though and tore around at lunchtime.

I hope your child has survived, and enjoyed her pizza!

Purple52 · 16/10/2016 18:04

I would. It'll be fine!

I'd respond better if I knew what 'leftover' pizza was?? Never been such a thing in our house.

Wikkitikki · 16/10/2016 20:19

I'm sure it was perfectly fine and probably more nutritious than school dinner pizza.
When my bread machine worked my DC's often had leftover pizza in their lunch boxes.

Not answering original question as I've seen op already went with putting it in.

Not sure why people call pizza junk food when it's just bread with tomato sauce and cheese. It's essentially the same ingredients as a cheese and tomato sandwich, just cooked and a different shape.

Oneisenoughokay · 17/10/2016 10:03

Itll be fine. It's full of preservatives anyway. If it was home made pizza I'd say no. But no takeaway pizza will have enough real ingrediants to go off anyway. Itll be fine. If you never eat anything with anything that challenges your system you'll never have the right immune standards to cope with germs or bacteria In life. Anti bacterial has a lot to answer for.
